There are two things players exploring through the vast world of Death Stranding are bound to find after a few minutes of walking: lost cargo and cameos. Some cameos, like Conan O'Brien's, are fun and reward the player with new items, and Sam's meeting with The Film Director is no different.

The name The Film Director is an apt description, as the character is played by real-life film director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the man behind both Kong: Skull Island, and the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie. He appears in the Center Region of Death Stranding and has a special gift for anyone who can find him.

To find The Film Director, players will need to progress to Chapter 3 and continue through the story until they arrive at the Distribution Center South of Lake Knot City. Once there, another cameo, bearing the name Thomas Sutherland, will have a standard mission available to make a delivery to The Film Director. Finally, the Prepper can be found past the MULE camp near The Collector (a controversial cameo from Enterbrain CEO Hirokazu Hamamura), in a sulfur pit that is fairly prone to Timefall and BTs.

As an additional reward for finding Vogt- Roberts, players are also given Sam's Sunglasses. Like the Ludens set, these can be customized with a number of different colors, and when worn Sam will leave his hair down, instead of pulling it back into a ponytail. Continuing to make deliveries to and for The Film Director will open up new color options for the sunglasses' frame, although it is yet to be confirmed how many options there are for the lenses.

Some of the cameos in Death Stranding, like Conan O'Brien, were announced fairly early on in development, but as players continue to explore the world of the post-apocalyptic America, new famous faces will continue to be revealed. On the way to The Film Director alone are two other high-profile names, including Edgar Wright of the Cornello Trilogy, whose face lends to Thomas Sutherland, the quest giver who sends the player to Vogt-Robers in the first place. With so many of these characters also supplying their own little incentives for finding them, like Sam's Sunglasses, it likely won't be long until players have picked every Prepper Station clean for every reward available.

Death Stranding is available now on PS4, with a PC release slated for Summer 2020.
