Death Stranding has attracted a lot of attention in the lead up to its release. This is partly due to the creator of the game, Hideo Kojima, and his reputation for unique game mechanics. There have been plenty of reports of odd gameplay features. The latest feature teased by Kojima is significantly more upbeat than the trailers for the game, and features Conan O'Brien.

Kojima's latest project, Death Stranding has created a lot of interest because it is his first game since parting ways with Konami. Not only that, but the game is set to have stars such as Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, and Lea Seydoux. These actors were revealed through dramatic and tension-filled trailers. However, Conan O'Brien has been revealed in a more comical video.

The video that features Conan O'Brien shows him as the character, 'The Wondering MC'. The character jokes and reveals an otter head-piece. The item is given to Sam (Norman Reedus) allows players to swim in the river just like an otter, and look "sexy". Death Stranding has NPC's that will die if players don't give them attention, and many will hope they can preserve "The Wondering MC" for as long as possible, so they can enjoy more jokes.

While fans of Kojima's games will be excited at this headgear reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid V's chicken hat, there will naturally be detractors. Many will be quick to voice the opinion that having a celebrity in a video game doesn't count as a personality. There are certainly a lot of actors in the game and it will be interesting to see whether the game can retain Kojima's inventive signature. The number of odd features like this otter headgear, the BB communicating through the PS4 controller, and the strands certainly seems to suggest Kojima's formula.

Many are still asking about what exactly Death Stranding is. The answer isn't incredibly clear, although, trailers continue to tease out information about unifying America. If this turns out to be the case, it will be an incredibly ambitious game. With that said, Kojima is a very ambitious director, who draws from many influences to create unique games. With the otter headgear, Kojima brings in an odd mechanic yet again. Players may not have thought they wanted to swim through a river like an otter, but now they can.

Death Stranding releases on November 8th, 2019 exclusively for the PS4.
