Death Stranding is one of the most highly anticipated games around but even fans admit that the new game from Hideo Kojima seems incredibly confusing. A lot of what has been revealed of the game doesn't make sense and the new trailer that debuted at The Game Awards 2017 didn't make things much clearer.

But Kojima insists that the game's concepts and themes will tie together. In a new interview, the Death Stranding creator revealed that "A lot of people have been telling me, ‘You’re crazy like Stanley Kubrick...like David Lynch,’ and I’m honored, but these are all elements that play into the game design, and they do come together and they’re in line.” The developer added that “Everything makes sense. Everything will come together.”

Those looking forward to Kojima's next game will be delighted with his comments. It should give them confidence that the game will work and won't be confusing or complex for no reason whatsoever. It also means that some of their wildest theories may actually be correct and that Kojima, with his clues, teases, and trailer Easter eggs, isn't just sending fans on a wild goose chase.

However, some fans will still be hesitant to believe that Death Stranding will actually make sense. After all, Kojima himself has admitted that the team at Kojima Productions did not understand the game's story when he first explained it to them. Death Stranding actor Mads Mikkelsen has also said that the game's story is so elaborate that he didn't understand it when Kojima tried to tell him the plot (although it made him want to learn more about it). If the people making the game can't follow the story, how are players expected to keep up?

And although Death Stranding's strangest concepts will work with the "game design," many may wonder if that will lead to a fun game? Fans will be excited to see how Kojima can ditch the status quo, bringing fresh, new ideas to the table by making gameplay out of Death Stranding's oddest elements. But doing this is a huge risk for the veteran game designer to take and it's one that may not necessarily pay off.

As Death Stranding does not yet have a release date, Kojima and Co. may have plenty of time to win doubters over. Hopefully, the concept of the game and its sci-fi story will start to make a bit more sense, as promised.
