While we already know that Sony is currently developing their next generation of hardware, the release of the PlayStation 5 is still quite a while away. However, that doesn't mean that games aren't currently being developed for the next-generation console and it appears that Death Stranding, the next game from the mind of Hideo Kojima, will be coming to the platform in some form or another, following its debut on PS4 this November.

According to a since-deleted tweet from the Official PlayStation Spain Twitter account, the only platform announced for "the launch" of Death Stranding is PS4. The wording used by PlayStation Spain is rather ambiguous when compared to previous announcements and responses to fans, meaning this could be a potential tease that Death Stranding could be coming to more platforms including the PS5 when it releases next year.

When asked by a fan on Twitter whether Death Stranding was exclusive to PS4, PlayStation Spain's response translated to, "Hi! Currently, the only platform announced for the launch of Death Stranding is PS4." Going back to 2018, PlayStation Spain was asked the same question in reference to the release of God of War and their response was far more specific, stating "it's exclusive for PS4."

This wouldn't be the first time in recent memory that Death Stranding was teased for platforms other than PS4. Just last month, Hideo Kojima teased that Death Stranding could make its way to Google Stadia after a meeting had taken place between Kojima Productions and Head of Google Stadia Games and Entertainment, Jade Raymond.

Unfortunately, PlayStation Spain has since deleted the tweet, indicating that the team had either said more than they should have or provided misinformation. The wording certainly leaves a lot up in the air, especially when compared to some of its other replies, but for now, it's only speculation that this was anything more than a slip-up.

Hideo Kojima entered into a publishing agreement with Sony for the release of Death Stranding, so while it's likely that the game will be playable on PS5, whether it's ported or backward compatible, releasing on other platforms such as Stadia or Xbox is likely out of the question.
