Death Stranding has been in the works for years now, keeping fans of Hideo Kojima and his prior games anxiously awaiting more news on the title. Now, after years of teasing, it appears that the PlayStation Store has accidentally revealed that Death Stranding is about to become available for pre-order.

Spotted by Wario64 on Twitter, the PlayStation Store temporarily launched a pre-order screen for Death Stranding. While the pre-order promotional screen doesn't reveal Death Stranding's release date, Sony is likely preparing the pre-order possibility to coincide with the planned major Death Stranding announcement planned for Wednesday.

The pre-order screen has revealed what the pre-order bonuses through the PlayStation Store will be, and include Gold 'Sam' sunglasses, a gold armor plate, gold hat, and a gold speed skeleton. In addition, pre-ordering unlocks a PS4 dynamic theme and PSN avatar called Chibi Ludens. Notably, the pre-order screen indicates that the bonus content is unlocked via story progression within the game, so players will still have to gradually earn access to these items.

Death Stranding has been in development since 2015, following Kojima's departure from Konami after completing work on Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Fans of the developer have been particularly eager to see what the team will accomplish after Kojima's take on Silent Hill was abruptly scrapped by Konami.

Despite the long development time of Death Stranding, much of the game remains a mystery. This is due in part to Death Stranding's cryptic teasers, which have often created more questions than answered them. The game still lacks a solid release date, but with multiple hints that the game could potentially launch sometime in 2019 from voice actor Troy Baker and Hideo Kojima himself, among other sources, it's possible that fans may finally receive answers to these questions in the near future.

With pre-orders seemingly on the verge of opening and Wednesday's planned major announcement, Death Stranding will likely have its release window - at the least - finally revealed come tomorrow. With any luck, the announcement will also cover some other details on what players can expect from the gameplay, its mysterious story, and Death Stranding's multiplayer functionality.

Death Stranding is currently in development and does not have a release date.
