Not too long ago, Kojima Productions released a fresh Death Stranding trailer during Tokyo Game Show 2018 that introduced a mysterious man in a golden mask, as well as a new and imposing creature players should expect to see in the PlayStation 4 exclusive. As one might expect, the arrival of the enigmatic figure didn't do much to shed more light on what the project is actually about, but that seems to be of little concern to Hideo Kojima, as he's announced that there are still even more characters to unveil.

As seen in the tweet below, Kojima-san gives Death Stranding fans a look at Yoji Shinkawa's iconic art style depicting what are to be the main characters of the forthcoming PS4-only title. He then goes on to state that some of their designs may be altered somewhat before the game's release, and even mentions that a few more "main characters" will appear at some point down the line.

With Death Stranding having been surrounded by what seems to be an almost impenetrable shroud of secrecy ever since it was announced, there's really no telling who these characters will be, what their personalities are like, or when they will actually be revealed to players. And if history is any indication of what to expect from these forthcoming reveals of the new Death Stranding characters, then fans should prepare themselves to be confounded, yet intrigued.

All things considered, we will simply have to wait to find out what more Kojima-san has in store for us, as he's yet to even announce a release window for Death Stranding despite the game having been revealed a couple of years ago during E3 2016. It's worth noting, though, that the comedian and talk show host Conan O'Brien recently revealed he "shot something super secret" with the director, so perhaps we will wind up seeing the American television personality as one of these new characters in the game.

Death Stranding is currently in development for PlayStation 4, but lacks an official release date.
