The post-apocalyptic world of Hideo Kojima’s latest game, Death Stranding, is massive and full of hazards standing in players’ way. While many of these consist of supernatural beings and enemy factions, the greatest challenge comes from traversing the terrain itself and enduring the vast distances standing between players and their goals.

This has been one of the most contentious things about the game so far. It’s only been a day since it launched, but players are much divided on Death Stranding’s gameplay loop of delivering packages across the mostly-empty wilderness. The long stretches of walking while managing an increasingly cumbersome load of cargo have even sparked a debate about whether AAA games are embracing a new standard of being boring. Thankfully, there are ways to speed things up and cut down on the tedium, and one of them is a bike players can find early on.

Where To Find The Bike

There are a number of bikes and other vehicles scattered across Death Stranding’s world, but the first one players will most likely come across shows up in the second of the game’s Episodes. Episode 2 takes players to Capital Knot City, one of the first pockets of scattered civilization they’re tasked with reconnecting through the Chiral Network.

It should take players roughly 6-7 hours from the start of Death Stranding to get there, depending on how much sidetracking they do beforehand, and so long as they follow the story objectives, the game should lead them straight to Capital Knot City. From there, players are going to want to head to the city’s Distribution Center West, where, parked on the grass just outside the building, is the bike. Unfortunately, players won’t be immediately able to use it, as its battery is dead.

How To Repair The Bike

The only course of action for players to take in the short-term then is to keep playing Death Stranding and completing delivery orders like before, until they complete Order Number 9 and get the Chiral Network up and running in the region. Once that’s done, players are free to make use of the Portable Chiral Constructor, a sci-fi 3D printer that can create all sorts of structures and items.

To repair the bike, players need to make use of one of these items, a generator which, conveniently, they receive the blueprint for by completing Order Number 9. Once they have it, all they need to do now is head back to the Distribution Center and place a generator within range of the bike (done by holding right on the D-Pad). After about 20 seconds, the bike will be good as new and ready to roll. Which is good, because, at this point in Death Stranding, players are soon going to come across timed missions that will require them to cover a lot of ground in a hurry.

Death Stranding is now available for PS4, and will be available for PC in Summer 2020.
