For a game largely referred to as a walking simulator, it should go without saying that a great deal of time spent playing Death Stranding involves traversing the gorgeous landscapes of a post-apocalyptic Earth. In fact, one of the game’s primary directives involves making supply drops to remote outposts across the map, often under a given time limit.

That being said, acquiring vehicles and keeping them charged is an absolute necessity in Death Stranding. This guide covers how to charge and repair Sam Porter Bridges’ Bike, as well as other vehicles, both on the go and in garages.

Charging Bike & Other Vehicles

Players who have read the How to Repair Bike guide probably remember that recharging Bike requires a generator. To quickly recap, Players will likely come across their first Bike about 6-7 hours into the game during Episode 2. It will be parked with a dead battery just outside of the Distribution Center West building of Capital Knot City.

After completing Order Number 9, Sam will receive a blueprint for a generator capable of recharging the dead battery. All players need to do then, is whip out their Portable Chiral Constructor and build the generator beside the bike by holding right on the D-Pad. After a few moments, the battery will be fully charged and Sam can begin doing timed supply drop missions worthy of a Road Warrior.

This initial process is exactly the same for every vehicle when it runs out of battery in the wild. It should be noted that batteries run out of juice faster on wet ground and rough terrain, so roads and flat surfaces are the most efficient routes to take. All players have to do is construct a generator beside the vehicle and after about twenty seconds the vehicle’s battery will be fully charged.

That being said, recharging a vehicle is not the same as repairing a vehicle.

Repairing Bike & Other Vehicles

Much like cargo, vehicles are damaged by the rain, and while Sam’s handheld Container Repair Spray can save most cargo, UCA Vehicles can only be repaired at the major UCA hubs where Sam has access to a Private Room and Garage. This is also where players can construct the Reverse Trike.

To repair a vehicle, all Sam has to do park the vehicle on the circular elevator and take it to his private room. Upon returning, the vehicle will be fully charged and in pristine condition.

Note: Mule trucks cannot be taken into garages.

Death Stranding is available now for PS4, with a PC release slated for Summer 2020.
