With Gamescom just a few days away, several prominent games have officially been confirmed to appear during the convention, with titles like Sifu, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Back 4 Blood, and Far Cry 6 all featuring in a recent trailer for Gamescom. However, it seems the list of announcements isn't over just yet, with Geoff Keighley taking to Twitter earlier today to confirm that an upcoming PS5 release will be getting new gameplay during his Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase.

Although it featured in the aforementioned trailer, fans now know that Death Stranding: Director's Cut will feature in a significant segment during the kick-off broadcast, with Keighley confirming they can expect an extended gameplay trailer. Exactly what this fresh look at the game will show is being saved for the event, although it's sure to offer another glimpse at the re-release's enhanced visuals and brand new content.

For those that missed the Director's Cut's announcement earlier this year, it was unveiled at another of Keighley's shows, with the Summer Game Fest opener pulling back the curtain on the long-rumored PlayStation 5 version of Death Stranding. During a State of Play a few weeks later, fans got even more details, with Kojima Productions confirming it'll offer new story content, gear, and mechanics.

Players will be able to venture to a never-before-seen area, complete all-new deliveries, and speed around a giant race track, which seemingly comes with additional vehicles. Kojima Productions has even overhauled the original release's combat, promising better melee encounters with enemy MULES. It looks to be the ultimate package for new and returning Death Stranding fans, so it'll be interesting to see what Geoff Keighley has to show when Gamescom Opening Night Live airs on Wednesday, August 25 at 11:00 AM PT.

It's far from the only game currently confirmed to appear during Opening Night Live, with the lineup including several of the fall's heaviest hitters. Players also know there will be some announcements at the event, including the reveal of the latest entry in the Saints Row franchise, which Keighley and Volition recently teased will make its debut during the broadcast. It'll be joined by a range of other games, with Keighley confirming everything from Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania to TMNT: Shredder's Revenge. The show will act as an opener to Gamescom, highlighting some brand new games and getting fans hyped for the all-digital convention's 2021 offerings.

Death Stranding: Director's Cut is slated to launch on September 24 for PlayStation 5.
