Death Stranding is still mostly shrouded in mystery, but that hasn't stopped fans from speculating as to what the game will entail, including YouTuber YongYea. YongYea recently published a Death Stranding video on YouTube that attempts to figure out who the game's female protagonist will be, and he comes to the conclusion that it is none other than actress Diane Kruger, best known for her roles in films like National Treasure and Inglorious Basterds.

YongYea has provided a few key points in his attempt to prove that Kruger is the female protagonist in Death Stranding. Firstly, he points out that the actress can speak in English, French, and German. This is important because footage in the second Death Stranding trailer suggested that the game may be partially set in Nazi-occupied France, so someone who is capable of speaking all three of those languages would be ideal.

YongYea's next points are a little more convincing. As it turns out, YongYea has found photographic evidence on social media of Diane Kruger with Hideo Kojima, Kojima's assistant, and Death Stranding star Norman Reedus. If that weren't convincing enough, Kruger made a post on Instagram back in September of 2017 of her wearing motion capture gloves that look exactly like the motion capture gloves used by Norman Reedus when he filmed his role for the game.

While we can't say for certain whether or not Diane Kruger is part of the Death Stranding cast, YongYea's evidence is actually pretty convincing. Of course, it's possible that all this supposed evidence is merely coincidental, and that we still aren't any closer to discovering who the female lead may be in the upcoming game.

Previous rumors suggested Emma Stone as the actress playing the female lead in Death Stranding, but that has yet to be confirmed or denied by Kojima Productions, Stone herself, or anyone else involved with the project. It's also possible that both Emma Stone and Diane Kruger are in Death Stranding playing different characters, but again, neither of them have actually been confirmed for the game just yet.

Death Stranding was absent at E3 last year, but the game is expected to make a splash at this year's event as development on it continues to progress. Whether or not that comes to pass remains to be seen, but if Death Stranding does show up at E3 2018, perhaps we will learn then if Diane Kruger is starring in the game or not.

Death Stranding is in development for PS4.
