Those that have been keeping up with Death Stranding, know that the game shows characters using a plethora of different tools to get by, including a strange shoulder-mounted detector. Now a fan has replicated the in-game device in real life.

YouTuber Kantaro Studio is responsible for replicating the device that was first shown off in Death Stranding’s third trailer. Just like the main protagonist, Sam(Norman Reedus), Kantaro Studio has the arm accompanying his left shoulder. As well as this, the arm’s propellers spin and move just like in the game.

Kantaro Studio uses paper for the propellers, so they are light enough to spin and move quickly. He makes use of a 3D printer to create the arm's heavier parts. He fashions a metal carrying case to look like Sam’s backpack from Death Stranding, and also uses it to store the arm’s wiring. Kantaro’s remote control will be recognized by Metal Gear Solid fans as the Idroid, a device Venom Snake puts to use in a number of ways in the franchise’s fifth main installment.

It may seem at first that we don’t know a lot about Death Stranding, but the footage shown off at E3 2018 and information preceding it tells us quite a bit. We know players take control of delivery man Sam Porterbridges: a blue-collar worker who transports anything from corpses to god knows what else.

At the end of the gameplay reveal for Death Stranding, we see Sam pull out a rifle while overlooking a cliff. This was our first hint that there will be combat in Death Stranding, which director Hideo Kojima later confirmed to be optional.

It was great to see Kantaro bring a piece of the cool looking tech from the trailer to life. The detail is astounding, with everything from the color to the flashing LED light being loyal to the game. The device definitely looks to be useful in-game too, with it moving faster the closer you are to the enemy.

Death Stranding is still in development and will be coming to PlayStation 4.
