Hideo Kojima is considered a master at his craft, and anytime he releases a video game, many fans try to understand his thought process and analyze his work. Kojima has been honored as one of the greatest video game creators, having received many awards for his work on Metal Gear. All of Hideo Kojima's games not only have an extremely deep story, but always contain hidden underlying messages addressing real life problems. One of Kojima's latest projects is now being analyzed in a way that was not possible when it was released.

Death Stranding was released on November 8th, 2019 and is set in the United States after an apocalyptic phenomenon called Death Stranding, which has caused survivors to recluse themselves in isolated colonies and receive supplies from the main character, Sam Bridges. The first case of COVID-19 was reported back in December of 2019, sparking the Death Stranding story to be eerily relatable to the current state of the world now.

Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, many countries are practicing social distancing and staying home to avoid the spread of the virus. Much like Death Stranding, many people are scared of going out into the public out of fear for their lives. In Death Stranding, the "Timefall" rain and the "Beach Things" cause remaining life to panic and stay safe inside. Kojima always places some similarities to the real world in his games, but the entire plot of Death Stranding is causing players to wonder if Kojima did in fact, predict the coronavirus.

This is not the first time that Kojima has possibly predicted events in the real world. Kojima's work on Metal Gear Solid 2 back in 1990 predicted a growing spread of misinformation, unmanned military, and government monitoring. While Metal Gear took nearly 20 years to be somewhat accurate to the real world, Death Stranding's events took less than six months to completely be relevant to current events. Now, people are returning to the game to further understand the connection to the real world.

The connections have gone so far that one person actually made something from Death Stranding in order to combat the coronavirus. The suit that Sam Bridges uses protects him and his baby from the harmful environment, and the person who designed the replica, claims that the suit will protect him and his baby from the poor air quality and the spread of airborne illness. Building a Death Stranding suit to prevent coronavirus is not recommended, but the idea proves that the game has many similarities to the real world. It is doubtful that Kojima predicted the virus, however, his genius in creating games that address current and future problems is impressive by itself.

Death Stranding is available now for PS4 with a PC version launching on June 2.
