When Hideo Kojima released a mysterious trailer for Death Stranding two years ago, he stated that the game had already begun. Two years and as many subsequent trailers on, fans are still clamoring to complete as much of the puzzle as possible when it comes to the world Kojima is crafting. This weekend, Death Stranding received another bit of enigmatic world building from Kojima in the form of an Instagram image tasing the Bridges organization, which both Norman Reedus and the player seem to be members of. It's unclear what this organization is or does, but it's far from the first time it has made an appearance.

Fans have already caught snippets of the Bridges logo before, which made appearances as a pin on Guillermo Del Toro's suit from the second teaser, the uniforms of the third, and even as a logo on the spacesuit of the Kojima Productions mascot, Ludens. In all of these, the Bridges logo made a web-like appearance over the general shape of the United States, with the epicenter of the web itself appearing to start over Washington. This led to fans speculating that Bridges was an organization connecting the cities that remain in the United States - metaphorically or otherwise - though Kojima has ultimately left fans guessing so far.

Here's the image that Kojima put on Instagram:

Both the in-game appearances of Bridges and Kojima's teaser post feature a spiderweb theme, though the correlation between the Bridges organization and the properties of a spiderweb remains to be seen. Hideo Kojima has evidently been in a teasing mood of late, as he recently shared a screenshot of the game which featured moss-covered rocks. While a follow-up tweet seemed to imply he was just showing off the Decima Engine that Kojima Productions is utilizing from Guerrilla Games, eager fans have taken a look at the rocks to come up with theories like the game taking place in Iceland.

Despite initially being shown two years ago, Death Stranding is still one of the most anticipated titles at E3 2018. It feels like fans are still speculating just as wildly about the game as when Norman Reedus and a baby first appeared on a shoreline, equally naked. With other teasers showing everything from Mads Mikkelsen leading undead World War 2 soldiers through black water to Norman Reedus watching his crew get killed by water demons and appearing to have a (metaphorical?) fetus inside of him, it's hard to judge gamers for the wild speculation. E3 2018 may finally shine some light on what Bridges truly means, or in true Kojima fashion, may just pile on even more questions.

Death Stranding is currently in development for PlayStation 4 with no set release date as of yet.
