Artur Laczkowski recently announced his first independent game, a horror title by the name Death of Rose, which has already been given a very close release date of February 20th. Death of Rose is based around third-person exploration, and seems to draw a decent amount of inspiration from the similar Silent Hill franchise.

The game's story revolves around a man by the name of Scott, who with his best friend Beth talking to him via walkie-talkie, explores an abandoned school rumored to be used by a cult. The game has interactive dialogue, and is marketed by its Steam page as having an emphasis on characters and story.

Artur Laczkowski is a designer for Bloober Team, a game developer in Kraków, Poland. He is perhaps best known for his emulation for PC and PS4 of the P.T. demo, an early look at Konami's canceled addition to the Silent Hill series. Łączkowski has stated that he's a big fan of Silent Hill, which he cites as the very reason he decided to make Death of Rose. Other potential influences include the similarly character driven horror games Man of Medan and Until Dawn, both by developer Supermassive Games, as Laczkowski posted on his Twitter that he believes them to be two of the best horror games of the decade.

Laczkowski's work with Bloober Team could prove especially important, however, as the developer is popular in the horror genre with notable games including Layers of FearObserver, and Blair Witch. All of these titles have heavy emphasis on story, exploration, and characters.

For those who prefer playing their games with a controller, Death of Rose has been confirmed to offer controller support. Whether the game will find its way onto console however, has not been confirmed by Laczkowski. For now, the title seems to be only available on PC.

While this does appear to be Laczkowski's first independently published game, he has several unreleased games, in addition to experience with both the creation and emulation of other horror titles. Those anxious to purchase the game won't take long to see the final product in motion though, considering its trailer came out about three weeks before release. The best of luck to Laczkowski in his first endeavor into the world of indie games.

Death of Rose is slated for release on PC on February 20th.
