Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds is up to his social media shenanigans again. The Canadian-born actor posted a captionless photo that appears to show the character's signature mask stuffed into a travel bag. This understandably caused a lot of speculation, but it's unclear whether Reynolds is just winking to his fans, or whether this means something bigger.

Reynolds portrayed the foul-mouthed mutant mercenary in both 2016's Deadpool and the sequel Deadpool 2, for which Reynolds also served as a co-writer. Reynolds is known for his devoted campaigning to get these movies made. He's clearly very passionate about the character and is eager to give his fans what they want. He's also known for his sense of humor, which is fitting for the character he plays.

In the past, Reynolds has found innovative ways to promote Deadpool, such as creating a fake feud with Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman and teasing that Deadpool's first storyline in the MCU would follow the character hunting down and killing Bambi's mom. That being said, he's also made a conscious effort to reach out to fans in touching ways, personally responding to fan mail and even recording an emotional video for a young fan diagnosed with cancer. Since Reynold's social media presence really varies from genuinely sweet to trolling hilarity, it's hard to know what this cryptic image means.

While Deadpool 3 is confirmed to be part of the MCU's future slate of movies, the film hasn't begun shooting yet, which has led some fans to speculate that perhaps this photo is some kind of hint that the character will be making a cameo in another upcoming MCU project. With Disney's recent acquisition of 20th Century Fox, the mouse house gained a wide variety of other superhero properties, including Deadpool. Spider-Man: No Way Home and Thor: Love and Thunder have been in production for the last few months, so who knows, maybe Wade Wilson will pop in to check up on Peter Parker. It's too bad Steve Rogers isn't a part of the MCU anymore, as it would have been hilarious to see the wholesome Captain America react to the notoriously potty-mouthed Deadpool.

However, for that reason, some fans have pointed out the potential difficulty of adding a character like Deadpool to the MCU. Both Deadpool films are EXTREMELY R-rated, featuring graphic violence, swearing, and raunchy sex. While the MCU movies do have a devoted adult fanbase, they are decidedly geared toward a more PG-13 audience. You don't see Tony Stark dropping a lot of F-Bombs (Just the regular ones that kill people). Either way, it will be entertaining to see how Marvel connects these franchises, and until then we'll just have to rely on Mr. Reynolds's cryptic messages.

You can watch both Deadpool movies streaming on Disney Plus in Canada and Europe.
