Marvel fans continue to receive great content as Ryan Reynolds announces the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Deadpool 3 is set to feature the first time the character enters the MCU. As a Marvel Studios production, Deadpool and Wolverine will inevitably be a part of MCU canon, along with whoever the lead villain will be.

To the surprise of many, Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine. Deadpool 3 featuring Wolverine and Deadpool opens the floor for immense fun, action, and R-rated activity. However, many fans wonder what villain Deadpool and Wolverine could face, and what could match the star power of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

10 Sabretooth

Sabretooth X-Men

Wolverine's nemesis is due for a live-action rematch. Sabretooth may well be a villain to the X-Men and Wolverine, but his interactions and banter with Deadpool could lead to some hilarious moments, especially if Deadpool breaks the fourth wall about Sabretooth’s multiple actors and appearances.

With Deadpool 3 looking at a proud R-rating, Wolverine and Sabretooth could have a gory and gruesome battle, with Deadpool involved in a trio of blood and stabbing. It could even open the return for Hugh Jackman’s co-star from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Liev Schreiber.

9 Taskmaster

Everyone seems to want Deadpool dead, to the point where he has a contract put out on his life many times a year. One person that Deadpool certainly doesn’t want to take the contract is Taskmaster, one of the toughest opponents in the Marvel Universe. Taskmaster can mimic anyone’s fighting style just by watching them once, meaning he can take on anyone.

Taskmaster is extremely brutal, and Wolverine and Deadpool’s healing factor could make for quite the challenge. Taskmaster is entirely possible in the MCU Deadpool 3, considering the character was introduced in Black Widow, with many alterations from the source material.

8 Dead Presidents

In an attempt to restore America to its former glory, an obsessively patriotic member of S.H.I.E.L.D. decided to use the dark arts of magic to resurrect every deceased U.S. President. This ranged from George Washington, all the way to Ronald Reagan. The scheme saw the Presidents of the United States resurrected as zombies running amok.

In a story fit for only Deadpool, the public destruction of these former presidents would have been a PR disaster, so Deadpool is hired to eliminate them all. Considering Deadpool and Wolverine are Canadian, they have no ties to these presidents, and a hunting road trip would be hilarious.

7 Deadpool

5 Villains That Could Make Their MCU Debut In Deadpool 3

What greater enemy is there than one’s own self? Deadpool is known as the Merc With a Mouth, and that mouth sure gets him into a lot of unnecessary trouble. Deadpool is a chatterbox, that loves talking and insulting other people. Half the time, his vulgar and crude mouth makes enemies that he doesn’t even want.

As a wacky anti-hero, Deadpool has said and done things he has ended up regretting almost instantly, thus making an enemy of himself, as Deadpool will be hurt or lose relationships due to his actions. Deadpool 3 certainly could feature the title character as the annoying villain of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

6 Madcap

Matching Wade Wilson’s personality and antics is one thing, but beating them all together makes someone a grave threat to the world and its patience. Madcap is that character, an antagonist of Deadpool whose body exists in a state of cartoon logic. He is impervious to pain and reconstructs himself from horrific injuries with ease.

What makes Madcap the most dangerous, is his ability to pass his madness on to others. Madcap could be a great adversary for Deadpool, and make Wolverine mad, causing a fight between the two. Or, both Mutants could just attack the cartoonish villain to shut him up.

5 Mister Sinister

Mister-Sinister-Comics

One of the major X-Men villains, Mister Sinister is worthy of an MCU debut. He’s a great villain, with a lot of history involved. Mister Sinister is a genetic scientist and a Mutant with the power to restructure his molecular structure at will. His outfit is just as sinister as his namesake.

Nothing will stop Mister Sinister from getting what he wants, and his intellect is something to rival. Deadpool and Wolverine have crossed paths with Mister Sinister before, and for an MCU debut, there couldn’t be a better X-Men villain for it, especially considering how annoying he would find the duo.

4 Hit-Monkey

Hit-Monkey from Hit-Monkey

What better opponent for the weirdness of Deadpool than Hit-Monkey? This character is a Japanese Macaque, who learned the art of an assassin from his clan. Hit-Monkey is distinct for being a deadly monkey and wearing a fun suit with sunglasses.

Watching Wolverine and Deadpool battle against an agile and skillful monkey would be hilarious, and would fit right into the tone that a Deadpool movie needs. Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds could have a ball, throwing adamantium fists and sharp blades into the air to try and fight a monkey with guns.

3 Ajax

a new and improved ajax

Originally, Ajax was the assistant to Dr. Killebrew and helped the deranged doctor in torturing his victims for his twisted experiments to trigger the healing powers of Deadpool. Deadpool killed Ajax for his hatred of him and his torturous, sadistic means. However, Killebrew turned a dead Ajax into a cyborg.

With a revised look on life, Ajax exists only to kill Deadpool and his allies. This villain was the first Deadpool encountered in 2016’s Deadpool. Considering the third entry is in the MCU, bringing back Ajax could be a smart move to show how the character is back for revenge.

2 William Stryker

william stryker from marvel

Both Wolverine and Deadpool are no strangers to Stryker. This is the military man that has been the cause of great pain and suffering for both characters. Stryker was involved in the Weapon X program that experimented on Wolverine, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine featured the debut of Wade Wilson as a complete deviation from the comics.

The deviation from Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine has been ridiculed by fans globally, as has the deviation in the first two Deadpool movies. By featuring Stryker as the villain, Deadpool and Wolverine have a reason to team up. Wolverine hates Stryker for the experiments, and Deadpool hates him for slandering his image outside the fourth wall.

1 Evil Deadpool

evil deadpool issue 1 comic cover

Many heroes in the Marvel Comics have evil counterparts. It’s always a solid choice for a villain, as it features things familiar yet different. Even in 2017’s Logan, Wolverine faced off against an evil clone of himself. Deadpool 3 could feature Evil Deadpool for fun and unhinged villain.

In the comics, Evil Deadpool is composed of the body parts that Deadpool lost, whether that’s due to gunshot wounds, or severed limbs. These parts are abandoned when Deadpool grows them back thanks to his healing factor, but they managed to find each other, and grow into a full-sized deranged Deadpool.

Deadpool 3 is scheduled to release in theaters on September 6, 2024.
