Perhaps one of the strangest success stories in gaming, the first Deadly Premonition managed to recover from a spate of awful reviews to become a veritable cult-classic in the eyes of fans, with many celebrating its bizarre world and "so bad it's good" storytelling. Over the years, the fanbase behind Deadly Premonition managed to rally so passionately behind it that a sequel got greenlit, with Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise releasing tomorrow.

However, early reviews have universally slammed the new follow-up for its poor technical issues, with most reviews referring to the game as one of the buggiest catastrophes of the modern era. From frame rate issues and terrible load times to characters appearing out of thin air and even settings completely not working, it seems as though Deadly Premonition 2 needs some severe patches in the coming weeks.

Luckily, it seems Rising Star Games has plans to provide new patches going forward, with the developer taking to Twitter to confirm that it's officially working on improving the game following critical feedback. "Thank you all for your feedback regarding Deadly Premonition 2!" the tweet states, continuing "We would like to officially clarify that the development team are constantly working on improving the title and patches are in the works." The team doesn't go into anything more specific than that, however, merely telling fans that there will be "more news soon!"

Looking at a number of the game's reviews, it seems the title has been significantly impacted by its technical shortcomings, with RPG Site's Alex Donaldson even posting a video revealing how terrible the frame rate can be. Captioning the gameplay "I CANNOT BELIEVE how terribly this game runs. A disgrace," the footage shows Donaldson attempting to use a skateboard to navigate through the town of Le Carré. The clip alone shows how terribly the game runs in these sections, with Deadly Premonition 2 sporting a shockingly low frame rate that never seems to improve. Worse yet, the game's open-world features a lot of flat textures and low-quality visual design, leaving many wondering why on earth these sections run so poorly.

Overall, it seems this will be a big roadblock for the enjoyment of Deadly Premonition fans, so Rising Star Games should look to get these issues fixed as soon as possible. For those who didn't see recently, Deadly Premonition 2 is currently sitting at a 57 on Metacritic, which falls below its 2013 predecessors' 68.

Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise will be available on July 10 for the Nintendo Switch.
