There's just over two weeks before the release of Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise. As the release date looms, Deadly Premonition publisher Rising Star Games has released a trailer welcoming players to sunny Louisiana.

The new trailer for director Swery65's cult followup introduces players to what will be detective Francis York Morgan's temporary home. "Welcome to Le Carre!" gives players a glimpse of the new misadventures of York and his internal voice Zach, as this gameplay peek arrives just before Deadly Premonition 2 launches next month.

It is hard to gauge what exactly in the trailer are legitimate nods to gameplay activities or a means to flesh out the location. One thing for certain is that players will be shooting out in the bayou alongside some confirmed skateboarding action. As for the story, there is even less to piece together although all signs point to a strange ride. The most important little tidbit is a quick glimpse of a red seed, an important detail for players of the original game.

Deadly Premonition was an unabashed homage to David Lynch's Twin Peaks. The TV series has served as inspiration for many a game but Deadly Premonition took it a step further. Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise may be moving away from the overt Twin Peaks relation, but there are a lot of signs it will take cues from the film prequel, Fire Walk with Me.

Deadly Premonition continues to be a divisive game even a decade after its initial launch on the Xbox 360, and a sequel was considered a fool's wish despite a fan movement. That is why Deadly Premonition 2's announcement for the Nintendo Switch is still something of a complete surprise.

Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise releases on July 10 for the Nintendo Switch.
