The VGAs certainly featured more than a handful of world exclusive premieres this year, but flashback to last year’s Spike VGAs and some may remember that Spike announced a game of its own. Deadliest Warrior: The Game made its world debut trailer exclusively on Spike’s Video Game Awards and this year, Spike decided to announce that the game will receive brand new DLC that adds three brand new warriors into the fray as well as a brand new game mode.

We previously reported that Deadliest Warrior would be receiving DLC back in October, but other than the news of one of the new fighters and a new game mode, nobody knew what else was coming. Spike pulled the curtains off the new DLC just yesterday to fans’ delight. The warriors were decided upon by “you, the most loyal legion of fans,” and it’s hard to be disappointed with the three new warriors selected to do battle against the likes of the game’s current roster.

The first trailer of the new warriors in action can be seen in all of their blood-soaked glory just below.

The game adds the Shaolin Monk; a warrior famed throughout the world as one of the most skilled combatants to ever grace China with its presence. The Zande Warrior will also be joining the brawl with his unpredictable move set and gruesome weaponry, and the previously confirmed Rajput also made an appearance in the new trailer and he’ll certainly become a fan favourite with this intense moves. On top of these warriors a new game mode that features survival-styled gameplay and should help add some more value to the overall Deadliest Warrior package.

Deadliest Warrior offers a gruesome and more realistic fighting experience that any fighting game fan will enjoy. The game takes a more realistic approach than other fighters, meaning that if the player catches a spear to the head then they’re dead, there’s no walking that one off. No price point has been released for the new Deadliest Warrior: The Game DLC, but one should expect it to run them at least $5 (400 Microsoft Points). The DLC will be made available to the masses on both Xbox 360 and PS3 later this Winter.

What do you think about the new DLC? Will you be downloading this add-on?
