Deadliest Warrior: The Game downloadable content has been promised for quite a few months now. The DLC's official trailer made a its debut at last year's Spike TV Video Game Awards, but not much else in terms of release date info had come to fruition since. Thank goodness Spike Games and Pipe Works finally decided to make the DLC available before some anxious children felt the need to reenact the blood soaked battles with their dad's antique sword and an axe from their tool shed.

The Deadliest Warrior DLC is available on both XBLA and PSN for download right now, and it's got more than enough content to fill up one of those endless wells that the Spartans were infamous for kicking messengers into. The new content includes the three previously revealed warriors such as the Rajput, the Zande, and the Shaolin Monk which can all be used to rage war against the game's pre-existing roster. Some may be happy with just the new warriors and their weapons, but Spike wouldn't settle for just the bare minimum.

Along with the new combatants and their armor/weapons, there is also a new 'Skirmish Mode' for what Spike describes as "competitive versus battle with up to four warriors." Okay, before anyone gets too excited they should know that this doesn't mean that there will be a battle with up to four players simultaneously.

Instead, the new 'Skirmish Mode' is similar to Marvel vs. Capcom 3, as players can choose up to four different warriors on each team, and keep fighting until there's only one team left standing. Don't expect any Team Hyper Combos or even the ability to tag in another warrior, however.

The game's online component has also received a much needed update thanks to the new add-on. Online titles have now been implemented to allow users to show off their rankings during online play. Medium range taunts are now also available for all warriors old and new, which will certainly aid those who have been desperately seeking yet another way to tell their friends where to Raj-put their skills.

Deadliest Warrior: The Game's DLC is now available on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network for the low, low price of $5 (400 Microsoft Points).
