PlayStation trophies for the upcoming Dead Space remake have leaked ahead of the highly anticipated horror game's launch. While PlayStation trophies reveals are often exciting on their own, if only to cage the depth of challenge in a game, there's something unique about the Dead Space remake's list. Fans of the original Dead Space can use the Trophy list to compare the new game to the old, see what's been kept, and see what EA Motive has decided to change. The original Dead Space was known to have a very challenging selection of PlayStation trophies to earn. There are just under 50 trophies and while most of them are based on completion, like completing Dead Space's chapters, using weapons, and killing certain enemy types, there are some difficult and tricky trophies, too. Particularly challenging trophies include beating the game on its hardest difficulty, completing it solely using the Plasma Cutter and no other weapons, and upgrading all weapons and equipment. Tricky trophies include finding the mysterious Peng Treasure, and progressing through Level 6 of Zero-G Basketball.RELATED: Dead Space Remake Developer Says Game is Too Scary to Play With Headphones on at NightThe Dead Space remake's trophies are largely similar to the original game's, but with some eyebrow-raising changes and additions. For the most part, it looks like the entire Dead Space narrative progression is the same. The Dead Space remake has all the same chapter-based trophies. Similarly, most combat trophies are similar if not identical. The new game does remove some odder original game combat trophies, and instead adds some basic ones that encourage players to use mechanics like stomping, kinesis, pinning enemies, and cutting/ripping off enemy limbs.

The new Dead Space trophies are rather exciting, though. While the main storyline of Dead Space seems unchanged, these trophies reveal that EA Motive may have some surprises for classic Dead Space fans to discover. There are also some secret trophies which won't be noted here that are especially intriguing.

Many of Dead Space's most memorable trophies do remain, for those worried. The Trophy for Level 6 of Zero-G basketball remains. The mysterious Peng Treasure Trophy remains. The Shooting Gallery Trophy has been changed to "Survive the Shooting Gallery." And there's still trophies for completing the game on its highest difficulty (now named Impossible) and for completing the game solely with a Plasma Cutter.

All in all, there's a lot to be excited about based on these leaked Dead Space remake trophies. Nothing of significant importance from the first game appears to have been removed, some oddities have been improved, and there's even more to discover than expected. The quality of the Dead Space remake remains to be seen, but PlayStation Trophy hunters have a lot to be excited for.

Dead Space releases on January 27 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
