With EA Motive having only just released the Dead Space remake, some fans are speculating on a revamp of the sequel given some hints that are dropped after a playthrough. Although there was never a new game plus mode for the original title, the Dead Space remake offers players the unique post-game challenge that has appeared in other games too, only this one has some hints towards a Dead Space 2 remake.

Some Dead Space players that have already made it through the full campaign and have started their new game plus saves have come across some exciting hints pointing towards a Dead Space 2 remake. Due to the success of Resident Evil 2 and 3's remakes, Capcom is developing a Resident Evil 4 remake, and the developers of Dead Space may be anticipating similar success based on the in-game hints that have been dropped. New game plus extends the life of Dead Space by giving players challenges that are more difficult than their first experience, and this save holds some potential development secrets.

Dead Space players that choose not to participate in the new game plus addition may miss out on text logs that didn't occur during the initial campaign. Beyond the potential lore ramifications of missing these tidbits, they may also not see the references to a Dead Space 2 remake that other fans have uncovered. While delving into an email exchange between two Dead Space remake characters on a terminal, players can see that there's a "decommissioning" that's set to happen in the next year which points to work on the Sprawl on Titan.

Though there may be Easter eggs referencing Titan Station which is also known as the Sprawl in the Dead Space remake, the location plays a significant role in Dead Space 2 that may be revisited with a future rework. Dead Space 2 players will explore many areas of Titan Station in the sequel's campaign, but it's also the home of an important storyline moment that makes it canonically important. In Dead Space 2, the protagonist Isaac Clarke fights for his life after the explosion of the USG Ishimura, a moment that would likely be part of a potential unannounced revamp that's merely hinted at in Dead Space's remake.

While EA and Motive Studio have yet to confirm any future projects between each other, the hints in Dead Space may point towards the release of a sequel that may begin development soon. Like other games being worked on during the same time frame, Dead Space's remake experienced a few delays during the development phase, but a potential follow-up may see quicker turnout because of the asset work that has already been done.

Dead Space is available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
