The developers behind EA and Motive Studio’s remake of iconic survival horror game Dead Space have revealed that players can expect new items, enemies, and a new ending when tackling New Game+ mode in the scary sci-fi title. Gamers browsing through the PlayStation trophy list for the Dead Space remake had already discovered that the long-awaited remake would feature an alternate ending, but this marks the first official confirmation of its existence.First announced with a brief teaser at EA’s 2021 Play Live event, many fans of the original Dead Space were ecstatic when it was revealed that the beloved game would be receiving a remake. The original Dead Space from 2008 was widely praised for its visceral combat, incredible sound design, and a UI that blended seamlessly with gameplay. Fans already planning their return visit to the game’s necromorph-infested USG Ishimura recently got a tantalizing tease of the remade title when two hours of Dead Space campaign gameplay footage leaked online earlier this month.RELATED: Dead Space Remake Takes Full Advantage of DualSense Controller FeaturesIn a new post from the official Dead Space remake Twitter account, the game’s developers shared what gamers can expect from the survival horror title’s New Game+ mode. Looking to both reward and challenge players who aren’t too scared to play the Dead Space remake for a second time, the Motive Studios developers revealed that players taking on New Game+ mode will have access to a level 6 advanced suit and a secret ending, but will also be forced to battle new Phantom Variant Necromorphs. For horror fans eager to see everything the Dead Space remake has to offer, it sounds like New Game+ mode will offer new chills and challenges in addition to some secret story bits.

Many fans responding to the tweet were excited by the announcement of the additional content for the long-awaited remake, although some gamers were disappointed that no mention was made of the level 6 military suit appearing in the game. Referencing the recent crossover between Motive Studios’ survival horror title and Epic’s free-to-play shooter, one commenter joked that “the secret ending will be Isaac arriving to Fortnite.” Already thinking about the franchise’s potential future, another comment asked if the developers had plans to give Dead Space 2 a similar makeover down the line.

Releasing just over a month after the high-profile failure of Dead Space spiritual successor The Callisto Protocol, Motive Studios’ Dead Space remake seems primed to recapture the magic that made the original an icon of survival horror. And with New Game+ mode now offering even more content for fans to enjoy, Dead Space looks set to continue delighting fans for years to come.

Dead Space launches January 27 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
