EA's Motive Studios is currently hard at work on the Dead Space remake, and while not much of the remake has been shown to date, it's still expected to launch at some point later this year. While fans are anxiously awaiting the Dead Space remake's arrival, it seems that EA Motive may already be looking ahead to its next game, whatever that may be.

Motive Studios is hiring a Narrative Director to work on an "exciting new project" where "story plays a central role." According to the job listing, the Narrative Director will work with the Creative Director to craft the narrative experience for the game and help ensure quality. Unfortunately, the job listing isn't clear about what this "exciting new project" is, and so it could really be just about anything, though the language used in the post suggests that it is not simply referring to the Dead Space remake.

Since Motive was formed, it has primarily worked on the Star Wars franchise, assisting DICE with development on Star Wars Battlefront 2 and taking the lead on Star Wars: Squadrons, which earned mostly positive reviews from critics. The Dead Space remake is obviously not a Star Wars project, but it is still firmly rooted in the realm of science-fiction, and so it wouldn't be surprising to see Motive's next game stick to that genre, though that's just speculation at this time. There are no concrete details about what Motive's new game is beyond that it will be story-focused.

One possibility is that Motive's next game is related to the Dead Space franchise. Early reports about the Dead Space remake indicated that the game would actually serve as a reboot for the Dead Space franchise. Considering this, one would imagine Motive would follow-up the Dead Space remake with an original sequel, though that remains to be seen. It's possible that Motive will move on from Dead Space after the remake is out and return to Star Wars or even work on something else entirely, like an original IP.

The fact that Motive is already hiring for its next project could be a good sign for the Dead Space remake. Motive is a relatively large studio and certainly has the resources to work on multiple projects at once, but the fact that it's already looking ahead could mean that the Dead Space remake is on track and will meet its expected 2022 release window.

The Dead Space remake has gone dark since last year as the developers are hunkering down and getting the project ready. A specific Dead Space remake release date has not been announced, but it's expected to drop at some point this fall.
