Dead By Daylight is an asymmetric horror multiplayer game that sees one player controlling a killer to hunt down four other players who are trying to escape. It features a diverse cast of survivors and killers for players to play as and learn, each with their own skill trees and unique abilities. The game has been consistently updated with new maps, killers, and survivors for Dead By Daylight players to face off against one another.

The updates have led to Dead By Daylight's stable of characters to become especially diverse both thematically and mechanically. Recent Dead By Daylight killers have included a murderous K-Pop star and a terrifying set of conjoined twins. Each added killer is a big change for the game's meta, as they introduce entirely new ways to play which players have to adapt to in matches. Dead By Daylight's survivors also change up the meta, as survivors bring new perks that can be unlocked and used across all of Dead By Daylight's multiple survivors. The new killers and survivors have become even more interesting recently, as Dead By Daylight has started doing crossovers with other horror properties, which has brought some great new ideas to the game.

Dead By Daylight's History of Crossovers

Dead By Daylight has done a number of big-name crossovers over its history. Dead By Daylight's crossovers first started with a crossover with the Halloween film franchise. It was a big start for the game and brought the iconic Michael Meyers to the game as well as Laurie Strode and a map set in Haddonfield. This crossover was followed by Bill from Left 4 Dead being added to the game, although the crossover did not include any new killer. These initial crossovers were followed by crossovers with franchises like Texas Chainsaw MassacreA Nightmare on Elm StreetSawScreamStranger Things, and Ash Vs The Evil Dead. The crossovers thus far have included some of the Dead By Daylight's most popular killers and survivors, and have been extremely welcomed by fans of the games.

Most recently, however, Dead By Daylight has had crossovers with Silent Hill and Resident Evil. Both titans of the horror game genre, both crossovers brought great iconic characters as well as some very unique mechanics to the game. Silent Hill's Pyramid Head stills stands out amongst Dead By Daylight's stable of killers due to how aggressively the character can be played, while Resident Evil's Nemesis makes an appearance as the only killer that brings additional enemies to the match with him. The survivors of both crossovers have also been well received by the community, especially players who are big fans of some of the most classic horror games in the industry. The crossovers have been so popular that many fans have taken to investing in speculating just what properties Dead By Daylight will crossover with next.

Why Dead Space Would Be Perfect for a Dead By Daylight Crossover

EA recently announced a remake of the original Dead Space, and the game series is a perfect contender to crossover with Dead By Daylight. The series has become a classic amongst horror game fans, and aspects like its dismemberment system and minimalistic HUD have become iconic emblems of the series. However, the crossover would also be a great opportunity for Dead By Daylight to attract an excited fanbase that is anxious to get its hands on the new title, while also being able to bring a dose of industrial sci-fi to Dead By Daylight. The aesthetic of Dead Space is unlike any other franchise in Dead By Daylight, and a crossover could bring some very unique content to the game.

However, the crossover would also benefit EA as well. The original Dead Space series was shut down after Dead Space 3 failed to meet the lofty sales expectations that EA had set for it. Now that EA is trying to bring the series back, and with an entirely new development studio, a crossover with Dead By Daylight would be a great marketing opportunity for the game. Not only would it help get people excited for the new title, but it also would reach Dead By Daylight's large community of players that all clearly love horror games and could want to try Dead Space after playing a killer or survivor based on the new game.

What a Dead Space Crossover with Dead By Daylight Could Look Like

As for what players could expect from a Dead Space crossover with Dead By Daylight, the options for a killer and survivor are very obvious. Dead Space's Necromorphs would be a perfect killer in Dead By Daylight and would bring a great bestial foe to the game. For its unique mechanics, the killer could be able to change forms into various Necromorphs from the Dead Space games, with each one having slightly different advantages. Being able to run faster or hit harder could be a major benefit, for example, but would have the disadvantage of taking some time to change forms or becoming vulnerable to stuns.

For a survivor, the only clear option is Isaac Clarke. Isaac has become an iconic character across the games industry, and he would stand out from the survivors already present in Dead By Daylight. For his special abilities, Isaac could draw on his history as an engineer to prevent generator explosions with stasis or give other players buffs while he works with them. He also could draw on Dead Space 3's controversial crafting mechanic to gather supplies across the map and create a one-time use weapon to stun the killer or complete a generator faster.

Of course, the crossover could also include a map inspired by Dead Space's claustrophobic industrial atmospheres. The dark interiors of the Dead Space series would help survivors be able to find places to hide, while its twisting hallways would help the killer ambush players or trap them in the maze-like USG Ishimura. The sci-fi lights and decorations would also help the crossover stand out from other maps in the game, and could make it a really special one for players to learn and play on. With how Dead By Daylight details the backgrounds of its killers and survivors, the game could also pull from the extensive Dead Space lore. Hopefully, fans will get some news on the future of Dead By Daylight soon.

Dead by Daylight is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and mobile devices. Dead Space remake is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
