It may have been eight years since the last Dead Space game, but it still has a thriving fan base like any good franchise. People continue to show their love through stories, art, and occasionally, some very impressive cosplay. One Reddit user created a Dead Space costume so intricate, it garnered a lot of attention online recently.

There are times when video game cosplay is so dead-on, it appears as if it was ripped straight out of the game. This is the case with u/sunlightofastora and their Isaac Clarke cosplay. They had photos taken by Dim Horizon Studios in gritty, industrial-looking environments that set the stage nicely for the eerie brand of sci-fi horror that Dead Space is known for. The outfit consists of the CEC Engineering Suit, a 211-V Plasma Cutter, and even a spin-mounted RIG display on the back that lights up with an animated health bar.

It's always good to see that there are still those who appreciate the series, as it demonstrates that there is still a market for it. Even though Dead Space 4 is no longer in development, there's always a chance it could be revived down the line. Unfortunately, with the closure of Visceral Games, the developer behind the series will not be involved. It was a shame that the fourth installment never made it to release, but at least the creative minds behind the sequel were able to dish on what Dead Space 4 would have been like had it been completed.

There is still a lot of love about the series, which set the bar for horror games in a lot of ways. It has terrifying enemies and deep, rich lore that enhances the overall experience. It is one of those horror games begging for a movie adaption, and at this point, with all of the various video game movies and television shows in the works, there's a chance this could happen. The ultimate hope with an adaption, of course, would be that it would reinvigorate the franchise and possibly kick-start new games for development.

Until then, new titles like The Callisto Protocol are carrying on the sci-fi horror torch. It is an upcoming third-person survival horror title set to release sometime next year. Players will take on the role of a prisoner held in a colony on Jupiter's moon who finds themselves in the middle of an alien invasion. It is even being developed by a new studio headed by Dead Space creator Glen Schofield. The Callisto Protocol will clearly be taking inspiration from Dead Space, which is great for fans of the series, but the developer should be cautious not to lean into that legacy too much to keep things fresh.
