The tentative release date of Capcom's upcoming Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record bundle is September 17 according to a new leak.

Those barmy dead just won't stop rising, continuing to get up to their usual undead hijinx -- as only appropriate. The summer of Dead Rising started at E3 with the announcement of Dead Rising 4 for PC and Xbox One, or perhaps earlier than E3 considering its announcement was leaked. Keeping the summer alive, another recent leak confirmed the release of remasters for Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. And as a cherry on top, another leak dropped today: the remaster's release date.

The game's existence isn't a surprise to anyone anymore, but the addition of a release date is certainly a new detail. Prospective buyers will reportedly be able to pick up the remasters starting September 17. The so-called Dead Rising Triple Pack's release information was quickly removed, but it was online long enough for Game Informer to snap a screenshot and ask Capcom directly for comment.

While, of course, Capcom couldn't officially confirm the release date, the representative did give a surprisingly candid answer. They said that September 17 is indeed a tentative release date for the Dead Rising Triple Pack, but that it could still be moved. For now, fans will have to wait until official word from Capcom is released. The representative did note that that announcement should be coming soon.

Capcom has always had a challenging time keeping secrets, whether it be Street Fighter V's roster and DLC characters or Resident Evil... hey wait, they actually did a pretty great job keeping Resident Evil VII secret. Either way, it's hard not to respect its maturity in dealing with the (near) constant leaks. Saying up front that the release date is potentially correct, but must be considered tentative until everything is official, is an honest and direct way to talk to one's customers. That's rare in this day and age.

What's important is that whether a fan has played the classic Dead Rising titles or not, they'll now have the opportunity to do so prior to the launch of Dead Rising 4 in December. Seeing as Dead Rising 4 will be bringing back Frank West, the original protagonist of the franchise, reestablishing the fiction of his character from the first two games is important. The fact that both games will be remastered and look great on modern platforms is just icing on the cake.

Dead Rising Triple Pack, which includes Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record remastered, is tentatively planned for a September 16 launch. Dead Rising 4 is planned for release on PC and Xbox One starting December 6.
