It's a scenario well known to any horror movie fan: wake up one day, and the city around you has been reduced to mindless undead husks. Escape is the only logical course of action, but few decide to combine a sledgehammer with a concrete saw to help make that happen. And that's where Dead Rising 3 proves that it's one of a kind.

One of the most anticipated games in the Xbox One's exclusive roster, the open world zombie slaughterhouse is fast approaching. The brand new launch trailer, dubbed "Snowflakes," gives potential players one last taste of the carnage that awaits in Dead Rising 3. Assuming they needed the reminder.

The early reviews for Capcom Vancouver's first next-gen installment in the Dead Rising series have already started to come in, agreeing that even if the game isn't consistently flawless, there's more than enough fun to be had to make it worthwhile. So it's no coincidence that the launch trailer would focus on the sense of humor behind the game's carnage (and praise from critics in that very department), as opposed to the story driving new hero Nick Ramos.

Not that we can blame them, either; although the technical side of the game's performance had us concerned in the past, the top priority for the developers was always keeping fans of the series happy. And for the most part, that meant honoring the same wealth of customization options and sense of humor the franchise has become known for (and when the two cross paths, fans are sure to get something memorable).

By now it seems many of the technical hitches have been solved, letting the ludicrous weaponry and overall style take the spotlight. If the vast array of weapons and costumes shown off so far (Mega Man X chief among them) aren't enough, Capcom clearly hopes that the heightened action of the trailer will do the trick. Of course, there's always the DLC in case the base game is a little too dry for your tastes.

What do you think of the launch trailer? Does it make Dead Rising 3 shoot to the top of your Xbox One launch day playlist, or are you anticipating a different launch title? Sound off in the comments.
