While many fans have been hoping to hear more about Dead Island 2, the game has largely been quiet since its re-reveal, but publisher Deep Silver and developer Dambuster Studios are set to change this in an upcoming showcase, on December 6. Indeed, it's no secret that Dead Island 2 has had a rocky development, frequently changing developer hands, but it now seems the game is full steam ahead for release. This showcase reveal comes about a week after Dead Island 2's delay was announced. Originally scheduled to release on February 3, 2023, Dead Island 2 is now set to launch on April 28 instead. Given its history, the developer was certainly aware of the irony in delaying the game, but it is just a couple of months, with the announcement reassuring fans that development is on the final stretch.RELATED: Classic Dead Island Feature Returning in Dead Island 2Sometimes, a game will be delayed and the marketing will go quiet too, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Dead Island 2. Announced via its official Twitter channel, there will be a Dead Island 2 Showcase on December 6 at 1pm PT/ 4pm ET. The developer is promising gore, action, and gameplay, via an "exclusive gameplay reveal, showcased through an exciting cinematic live-action pulp adventure." It will also feature an exclusive first look at the game and some of its features, presumably those yet to be revealed.

It seems this showcase will be focusing on a more intimate demonstration of the game, as the official YouTube channel describes the video as "follow[ing] three fearless survivors in their search for a safe haven from the outbreak and zombie hordes." In other words, while Dead Island 2 features six playable characters, players will only see three of them assuming these are just random characters for the video. They are apparently searching the "abandoned" mansion of a local Hollywood Hills video game and movie producer, but obviously that's not a safe choice. This does make it seem like there will be some great interiors to explore, though that's just speculation at this time.

It won't be speculation for long though since fans know when they will see more of Dead Island 2. Interestingly enough, The Game Awards take place on December 8, just two days later. Dead Island 2 trying to stand out from the crowd is a good thing, though it doesn't necessarily mean a re-showing of the gameplay won't take place at the event. For now, fans just have a couple of weeks to wait and see.

Dead Island 2 launches on April 28, 2023, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
