Motion Twin, the developer behind Dead Cells, revealed a teaser trailer for the game's latest DLC, Return to Castlevania. The trailer briefly showed off what the new DLC is going to look like when it launches later this year.

Dead Cells was first released way back in May 2017 and was met with high praise from both fans and critics. The game currently sits at an 89 on Metacritic for the critic score and a user score of 8.1. Critics praised the game for its fantastic level design, distinctive boss encounters, and unique gameplay loop that allowed the players to have an entirely new experience each run. With the success that the title found, some fans of the game wanted more from the developers. And with that, Motion Twin then decided to release DLC for Dead Cells.

Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania released a short teaser showcasing the expansion. The trailer was under 40 seconds, but it showed off quick snippets of the new environments, new enemies, and new weapons for the players. The trailer concluded by confirming that the DLC will be released Q1 of this year for $9.99.

At The Game Awards 2022, Motion Twin released an animated trailer for the DLC and confirmed that it's going to feature over 20 new outfits for players, over 60 tracks from the Castlevania series, and weapons such as throwing axes and holy water to use against the Castlevania-themed enemies.

The Dead Cells DLC has kept the game fresh for many fans, with The Queen and the Sea expansion especially well-received. Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania is going to be the game's fourth expansion and its largest yet.

Dead Cells is regarded as one of the best roguelites available due to its intense hack-and-slash fighting mechanics and challenging gameplay. With that being said, some fans have been on the fence about the new DLC due to its pricing. The DLC is priced higher than usual, but the developers addressed that, saying the new pricing "reflects the fact that the scope of this DLC is quite a bit bigger than previous DLCs."

Dead Cells is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One. The Castlevania DLC will launch in early 2023.
