Dead by Daylight is essentially the logical endpoint of horror movie crossovers. Behaviour Interactive’s multiplayer survival horror game lets players take control of iconic Survivors and Killers from franchises like Halloween, Saw, Nightmare on Elm Street, Evil Dead, Silent Hill, Left 4 Dead, Stranger Things, and more.

Behaviour Interactive rolled out patch 5.6.2 on Tuesday morning, with the full patch notes available on the Dead by Daylight forums. It resolved 19 separate issues, though a few were specific to certain platforms or storefronts. These include the above-mentioned crashes when Switch players equipped Yoichi Asakawa’s Boon: Dark Theory perk. The patch also resolved an issue where the game wouldn’t unlock PS4 trophies added by the latest DLC. It additionally repaired a glitch that made certain cosmetic items free on the Epic Game Store version of Dead by Daylight.

The other changes apply to all versions of Dead by Daylight. For example, one fixed bug prevented players from purchasing discounted items, while another resolved a problem where the game let players buy the same perk multiple times. The remaining patches are much more specific, relating to individual characters or locations. Most were minor audio or graphical glitches, though few were more substantial.

Dead by Daylight Yoichi Asakawa and The Onryo

Most of the latter related to the recent Sadako Rising DLC. One glitch caused the game to crash when players entered the area of effect for the above-mentioned Dark Theory Perk. The update also fixed a few lingering issues with the recently added Killer, The Onryo. Examples include solving problems with the characters’ audio cues, Challenges, and a camera bug that occurs when The Onryo projects onto a nearby TV. However, it seems that the developer’s goal with version 5.6.2 was to fix a wide assortment of issues rather than focusing on one area in particular.

Notably, one problem still appears to have slipped through the cracks. The patch does not remove the bug that causes missing sound effects when swapping between the Play as Killer menu and the in-game Store. This was a known issue with Dead by Daylight's patch 5.6.1. Still, that is a minor enough inconvenience that fixing it may not be a priority. It's worth noting that the problem usually corrects itself when players switch to another Killer.

Behaviour Interactive released Dead by Daylight in 2016 and continues to support it with new Maps, Killers, and Survivors through regular DLC. The most recent is Sadako Rising, which dropped on March 8th and introduced the killer ghost Sadako Yamamura and Survivor Yoichi Asakawa from the Japanese horror series Ringu. Hopefully, Behaviour Interactive continues to support Dead by Daylight with several more years of content.

Dead By Daylight is available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
