Several days ago, Starbreeze Studios and Behaviour Interactive released a trailer teasing the next Killer headed to Dead by Daylight, with many fans believing the figure to be inspired by a Japanese myth known as Kuchisake. Now, the publisher and developer have decided to set the stage for the game's forthcoming DLC in Chapter 9: Shattered Bloodline by providing official details for new the Killer named Rin Yamaoka or "The Spirit".

According to Starbreeze Studios and Behaviour Interactive, Rin Yamaoka was once a young girl who became transformed into a bloodthirsty specter after her father murdered both her and her mother, causing her to become a vengeful ghost known as The Spirit. Those who take control of her in Dead by Daylight will be privy to phase-walking abilities, as she's able to catch Survivors off-guard with her traversal Power, Yamaoka's Haunting, which allows her to teleport from one place to another without being seen.

As far as The Spirit's personal Perks are concerned in Dead by Daylight, she will have Spirit Fury, Hex: Haunted Ground, and Rancor to give her tools to observe and bait Survivors, that will also help to deal with obstacles directly in her path. Respectively, the first Perk will magnify the wrath of the Entity with each Pallet broken until one she's hit with shatters instantly, the second will cause The Spirit to become "Obsessed" with a particular Survivor and briefly see opponents' locations with each Generator completed, and the third Perk affords her the ability to instantly kill her Obsession once all Generators are complete.

Alongside The Spirit's inclusion in Dead by Daylight will be the arrival of a new Survivor in the Jamaican-born teacher named Adam Francis, and he will have three Perks as well, dubbed Diversion, Deliverance, and Autodidact. Diversion lets him throw a rock that makes a loud noise to distract and mislead the Killer, Deliverance gives him a 100% chance of unhooking himself during an escape attempt after performing a Safe Hook Rescue on another Survivor, and Autodidact reduces progression penalties for Skill Checks to heal Survivors by 20% and rewards +20% bonus progression Tokens for each successful Skill Check while healing Survivors.

Taking all of this into consideration, with The Spirit and Adam Francis joining Dead by Daylight not long after The Clown and Kate Denson's additions to the game, fans should be pleased at how large the playable character roster has gotten since launch. And as it so happens, players should also expect to receive even more content for the asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror title down the line, with Starbreeze and Behaviour Interactive having promised four new Killers for Year 3.

Dead by Daylight is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
