The PvP survival-horror style of Behaviour Interactive's Dead by Daylight has done a fine job keeping a steady flow of new content for players to come back to. Since releasing on PC in 2016 and consoles a year later, the team behind the cat-and-mouse online survival game has added a myriad of new features, including new maps, killers, and survivors to play as. With Dead by Daylight a few months removed since its last expansion, it looks like it's time for the new wave a content to be coming.
Announced via the official Dead by Daylight forum page, the new Darkness Among Us expansion has been revealed. Among the additions to the game is a brand new killer, Legion. Based on the description from the reveal post, players will embody one of a group of deranged teenagers who are equipped with a new power called Feral Frenzy. In addition, three new perks will be added to the Legion killer, offering smaller enhancements in order to better the player's chances of taking out all four survivors.
When Feral Frenzy is active, the player (acting as the killer) will be able to move around faster and vault over objects with ease. The ability also offers a shorter cooldown time on attacks when missed, while also providing an instant reset if an attack is landed, allowing for the opportunity to chain multiple attacks together on survivors. The increase in movement could play a vital role in a match's outcome, as the killer has limited visibility in first-person compared to the survivors being played from a third-person perspective.
While the addition of Legion is the focal point of the newest expansion, Darkness Among Us will also be adding a new map, The Ormond Slopes Resort. An image from the resort was shown during a tease last week from the game's official Twitter account, which was captioned, "With snow comes darkness..." The map's description falls in line with its appearance in the teaser image, as the now-disused ski resort has fallen into decay, and attracted a mischievous group of teens which eventually become the game's newest killer. Also included in the upcoming expansion is a new survivor, Jeff Johansen. As is with Legion, the new survivor will also come with an exclusive set of perks for players to use in their efforts to escape the abandoned resort.
Darkness Among Us is the 12th expansion coming to Dead by Daylight. While the newest pack of DLC appears to have been created internally at Behaviour Interactive, a number of past expansions have been heavily influenced by popular horror movie franchises, such as Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Saw.
Dead by Daylight is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
