The Artist's Ability - Birds of Torment

Dead by Daylight The Artist Mori

During the trials, the Artist has access to an ability known as Birds of Torment. By pressing the power button, players can charge it. Using the ability at full charge by pressing the attack button will summon a Dire Crow. This can be done multiple times to summon multiple crows. These crows can be destroyed with flashlights, firecrackers, and flash grenades.

When a Dire Crow is summoned, it will stay idle for some time. Using the ability button while Dire Crows are out on the map will cause the crows to fly with the Artist able to see their path. Players hit by this flight path will be damaged. After the crow leaves the flight path, it will reveal any nearby survivors with Killer Instinct, similar to the Legion.

If a survivor runs into a Dire Crow and gets damaged, they will enter the Swarm state. The Artist will be able to see a large aura of crows surrounding the affected survivor, allowing for easy tracking. Survivors can shoo away the crows by using the repel action or going into a locker.

The Artist's Lore

Dead by Daylight Artist Lore

Before becoming a killer for the Entity, the Artist was known as Carmina Mora. She was a young woman from Chile who grew up surrounded by tragedy and loneliness. After a murder of crows stopped Carmina from killing herself, she began to more passionately pursue her art.

While Carmina got a lot of success and attention from her art, a target was painted on her back after painting a mural criticizing the corrupt multinational enterprise, the Vack Label. She and her friends tried to hide from those in the company's pocket at Carmina's father's house but were still found.

Carmina was horribly attacked, causing her hands and tongue to be cut off. The pain of it all made her scream in torment, summoning a storm of crows to attack and feast on her attacker. The crows however didn't get their fill and began to feast on Carmina's friends as well. As Carmina watched in horror, she was taken into the realm of the Entity, where her pain and anger would corrupt her into the Artist.

The full version of the Artist's lore can be read in her character profile in-game.
