Dead by Daylight is probably one of the most popular games for players to stream, given its fast-paced mechanics, its roster of famous fictional killers, and the fact that the game as a whole is immensely popular right now. However, when playing online, there is a certain degree of risk from bots and attackers. The recent DDoS attacks on Dead By Daylight streamers shows this, and now it looks as though the studio, Behavior Interactive, has stepped in to say that it has been investigating the wave of malicious online activity.

In a post on the Dead by Daylight Twitter page recently, the developer acknowledged the attacks on players, saying that it takes the reports "very seriously" and is encouraging others to keep sending additional reports related to DDoS. In another tweet, the studio also apologized to the community, especially those that have experienced the attacks. The long and short of it seems to be that Behavior Interactive is going to be doing all it can to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future.

Distributed Denial of Service attacks are when bots flood a network or server, causing disruption to things like websites and online gaming. DDoS attacks can affect big games like Titanfall 2, in which successful hacks can render titles unplayable. The recent wave that has targeted Dead by Daylight, in which players were also doxxed and swatted, is just one of many examples of hackers maliciously interrupting online play, wrecking havoc on servers and potentially endangering people by releasing sensitive or private information.

Of course, some in the comments have been criticizing the developer for it's too-little-too-late response. Given that the attacks happened a few days ago, some are wondering why it took the company this long to mention it in public. This is also not the first time Behavior has received a backlash from the community. It wasn't that long ago that the Dead by Daylight crew was berated for its involvement with NFTs, which the studio eventually denied. In general, while the DDoS attacks are not the fault of Behavior directly, some commenters feel the team should have offered some response sooner.

Despite the attacks and recent backlash against the studio, the game is still incredibly popular. With Dead by Daylight always looking to add new content, it's likely to stay on people's radars for a while. It just remains to be seen what the company will do to stem the possibility of future online attacks and doxxings.

Dead by Daylight is available for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
