Dead by Daylight has been dropping an array of significant announcements in recent weeks, revealing that its Resident Evil chapter will land on June 15 and a lineup of major changes will be implemented over the next 12 months. It seems one of these new additions is currently being trialed, with Behaviour Interactive announcing today that it's re-enabling its skill-based matchmaking system for another round of testing.

For those unaware of the change to matchmaking, Behaviour Interactive has been tinkering with it for a while, first testing the idea last year. The concept is to begin creating Dead by Daylight matches where players will be on an equal skill level, with the studio specifically citing that a killer who's great with the Oni but struggling to learn The Nurse will face higher level survivors when playing the former and lower level survivors while playing the latter.

This new test will allegedly last a couple of days, with the team looking to "monitor the matchmaker's performance." Players are warned that matches could offer a much wider range of player ranks during the trial, so fans should expect the skill level of lobbies to be a bit more sporadic until the test is complete. The announcement comes just days before Dead by Daylight unleashes its Resident-Evil-focused chapter on June 15, with Behaviour seemingly wanting to sneak the trial in before fans flock to the title to see what's new.

For those who haven't been keeping up with Dead by Daylight's newest addition, it will see players explore a recreation of the Raccoon City Police Station from Resident Evil 2's remake, which Behaviour Interactive has designed to look identical to its source material. Alongside the fresh map, iconic Resident Evil antagonist Nemesis will also debut as a new killer, bringing several of his abilities from Resident Evil 3 along with him. He'll be able to use his tentacle as a weapon and a means to infect survivors, with his attacks gaining power as he poisons all the players on the map.

It will be the first time a killer has been assisted by AI enemies, with Nemesis being joined by zombies that patrol the map. They'll also be able to infect survivors, forcing them to seek out a limited supply of antidotes. Finally, the DLC will add Leon and Jill as survivors, with the pair both coming with an array of helpful perks. Leon will be able to wield flashbangs that stun the killer, while Jill will be able to attach traps to generators, blinding killers who attempt to damage them.

Dead by Daylight is available on Mobile, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
