Behaviour Interactive kicked off the month by releasing a big update for its asymmetrical horror game Dead by Daylight. The ongoing "A Binding of Kin" Dead by Daylight chapter introduced a new Killer and Survivor, but much of the game's focus has since shifted to holiday festivities. Today, Behaviour announced players will be able to get a free cosmetic for Silent Hill's Cheryl Mason as part of its 2020 Advent Calendar.

This "Advent Calendar Celebration" was introduced to fans of the game on November 25, and is separate from the purchasable Dead by Daylight Holiday Horror Collection that includes new outfits for characters such as new Survivor Elodie Rakoto. Logging into Dead by Daylight "most days" through January 3, 2020 will reward players with in-game currency, and the developers have been putting out codes to unlock cosmetics for a limited time.

For example, as part of the third week for the Advent Calendar, players will be able to unlock a free Pathfinder's Sweater for Elodie by redeeming the code "PATHFINDER" in-game between December 18 at 11:00 a.m. ET and December 21 at 11:00 a.m. ET. Now, the official Dead by Daylight Twitter account revealed an "ugly sweater" called the Sweater of Metatron will be released for Silent Hill's Cheryl Mason starting December 25 at 11:00 a.m. ET.

Dead by Daylight first revealed its Silent Hill crossover in May, marking a major milestone for the popular game in that it had never featured another video game series prior to Konami's classic survival horror franchise. Behaviour Interactive has hosted a number of famous horror characters in its ongoing title, from Halloween's Michael Myers to Stranger Things' Demogorgon, but Silent Hill opened the door to new opportunities.

Cheryl Mason from Silent Hill 3 and Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2 were the characters featured in the crossover, with Midwich Elementary School from the original Silent Hill serving as a new map. The expansion also introduced Legendary skins that can change characters into entirely new models, with one of the first being a Cybil Bennett Legendary skin for Cheryl Mason.

With much of the 2020 Advent Calendar giveaways focusing on Dead by Daylight's original characters like The Deathslinger, it's fun to see the developers also have an opportunity to include more content for Konami's licensed characters. With rumors of an in-development PS5 Silent Hill game still circulating online, it would make sense for Konami to keep the brand alive with its current crossovers.

Dead by Daylight is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
