Following an accidental leak from developer Behaviour Interactive, fans of the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game, Dead by Daylight, have known that Scream's Ghostface would be the next killer for some time. Now, thanks to a new trailer from the developer, more details about Ghostface's release are on the way.
In the trailer (as seen below), Ghostface is shopping in an industrial hardware store where the killer goes on to murder the cashier. While it doesn't do much to showcase Ghostface's perks or abilities in Dead by Daylight, it is nonetheless an impressive animation and debut for the fictional killer, and it confirms when players can expect to learn more.
According to the trailer, there will be a full Dead by Daylight Ghostface reveal on May 31 at 12 PM PT/3 PM ET, and while many may be excited for official footage of the killer in-game, the aforementioned leak revealed the type of killer Ghostface would be. The leaked abilities included a focus on stealth, with Shrouded Hunt giving Ghostface a no terror radius, and Stalk giving a specific target the "Exposed" status. By now, it's possible that these have been changed by the developer to better fit in with all the killers in the Dead by Daylight, but that'll come to light during the official reveal.
As far as the actual release of Scream's Ghostface is concerned, there's not a lot of official information right now. That said, the 3-year anniversary is in the coming weeks on June 14, 2019, and the trailer draws attention to this fact when it announces the official Dead by Daylight Ghostface reveal. It wouldn't be surprising if the next chapter of the game released on or near its 3-year anniversary, but speculation aside, it stands to reason that the full reveal will also highlight Ghostface's release date.
Considering Xbox players can pick up Dead by Daylight as part of Game Pass on May 30, it's likely many players will want to check out the reveal of Ghostface or pick up the killer when his chapter goes live. In other words, even though the game is 3-years-old, Dead by Daylight is going strong.
Dead by Daylight is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with plans to release on Nintendo Switch in late 2019.
