The most desired DLC for Dead by Daylight has finally arrived outside of the player test build- the Silent Hill Chapter. However, even players who don't have the DLC have the possibility to encounter the newest killer while surviving: Pyramid Head.

In Dead by Daylight, Pyramid Head is known by his title as the Executioner. His main ability, Rites of Judgement, allow him to completely change up how rounds in Dead by Daylight play out by allowing Pyramid Head to sacrifice survivors without the usage of hooks.

Like with any killer, the first step to knowing how to play around Pyramid Head is to understand his main power. As mentioned before, this power is called Rites of Judgement. There are three different parts to this power.

The first part is Pyramid Head's ability to carve trails into the ground. These are extremely visible and can be seen by the red blood and razor wire that comes up out of the trail. Any survivor that touches this trail while walking or running will be afflicted with the Torment status effect. It will also notify Pyramid Head of the survivor's location. Crouching while walking will let players avoid this effect.

The second part is a special attack known as Punishment of the Damned. This lets Pyramid Head smash the great knife in front of him that puts out a wave that will damage any survivor in its way. Pyramid Head can only do this while carving trails, so it's best to stay out of his sight if he is carving. Punishment of the Damned goes in a straight line, so moving to the side is the best way to avoid this.

The final part is the Cage of Atonement. If a survivor is afflicted with the Torment status effect while in the dying state, Pyramid Head can instantly send them to a Cage of Atonement instead of a hook. These cages function the same as hooks with survivors that are put in the cage or on a hook three times will be sacrificed. While in the second stage, survivors must complete skill checks to survive instead of mashing the space bar or its equivalent. Survivors that are rescued from the Cage of Atonement will lose their Torment status, but if a rescuing survivor has Torment and saves someone from the cage, they will also lose the Torment status.

If a player has Torment and will normally die on their last hook or caging, Pyramid Head can kill them by hand with Final Judgement if they are in the dying state.

Avoiding the Torment status is the ultimate way to survive against Pyramid Head. Killer players may use Rites of Judgement to block off pathways, but crouch walking can avoid the status effect. However, players should be careful in chases to not get cornered from these trails. Pyramid Head additionally has add-ons that make these trails more powerful.
