Dead by Daylight is known for its elaborate horror franchise crossovers, collaborating with world-renowned franchises like Hellraiser, Halloween, and, of course, Resident Evil. In June 2021, Dead by Daylight saw some iconic Resident Evil characters come to the game, including Jill Valentine, Leon S. Kennedy, and the Resident Evil 3 antagonist, Nemesis. The DLC pack also brought the Raccoon City Police Station map, as well as exclusive Chris and Claire Redfield cosmetics.

Now, over a year later, fans of the game have learned more about the long-awaited next chapter as the upcoming DLC enters the Public Test Beta phase. After some teasing, developer Behaviour Interactive has shown off Resident Evil: Project W, featuring two new Survivors, Ada Wong and Rebecca Chambers, and one new Killer, the infamous Albert Wesker. Furthermore, Behaviour has dropped a release date for the DLC, which may be coming sooner than some expect. In a post on the official Dead by Daylight Twitter account, the release for Resident Evil: Project W is slated for August 30, meaning players have less than a week of waiting before they can get their hands on the new content. The new DLC chapter will release for all supported platforms for $11.99.

Following the Public Test Beta on PC, players have already seen how fearsome Albert Wesker, known as The Mastermind, can be in gameplay; capable of grappling Survivors with his Uroboros Tentacles and slamming them against objects or sending them flying, The Mastermind is a foe to be reckoned with, utilizing similar gameplay mechanics as last year’s Nemesis and the deadly Nurse Killers.

Rebecca and Ada also promise a new approach to Survivor gameplay, able to sneak around the battlefield with Ada’s perks focused on stealth and self-preservation, or keep fellow Survivors alive with Rebecca’s perks committed to healing and repairing generators. All these perks will be unlockable in Dead by Daylight's Bloodweb upon purchase.

Also coming with this DLC are some changes to the Raccoon City Police Station map, that Killers and Survivors alike have decried as too large and labyrinthine to efficiently navigate. The new update will cut the map in two, separating the East and West Wings, while adding more avenues to escape for Survivors while making patrolling generators much easier for Killers.

A developer update has detailed the changes to the map and DLC since players last got their hands on them in the PTB. With a greater focus on collision for The Mastermind, Behaviour has adjusted some hitboxes to prevent the killer from hitting Survivors against corners and small objects. Moreover, a series of nerfs and buffs were brought to the various new Dead by Daylight perks, and the number of pallets was reduced in the new RPD maps.

Dead by Daylight is currently available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
