Dead by Daylight has released Update 6.3.0 across all platforms, bringing new content to commemorate the Halloween season. This time of year is usually one for devilish delights for all to take part in, and Dead by Daylight isn't missing out.

In the spirit of the season, players received a new limited-time Halloween event to feast upon. Titled "Haunted by Daylight," players will be treated to a frightful slew of content, including new daily rewards to collect and earn. Later in the month, there will be a Twitch stream from developer Behaviour Interactive, a free play weekend, new merchandise, and a batch of store content like a new Resident Evil 5- inspired skin for Albert Wesker, a Dead by Daylight Killer called The Mastermind.

The Haunted by Daylight portion of Update 6.3.0 will run from October 13 to November 3 and brings two new Tomes to the Archives. The first of these is Tome 13, called Malevolence, which will feature the stories of The Ghost Face Killer and the Survivor Mikaela Reid. As is the case with previous numbered Tomes, it has challenges for players to complete to gain additional Bloodpoints and new lore entries from The Observer. Contrary to popular belief, Ghost Face is an original creation for the game and not the same character as GhostFace from the Scream movies. The second Tome, the event-exclusive Haunted by Daylight Tome 13.5, will be available until November 3 for players to unlock special cosmetics.

Update 6.3.0 comes just days after Behaviour Interactive confirmed the Halloween event for Dead by Daylight. In addition to the content, the update included gameplay quality-of-life changes. Trials, the in-game term for matches, will now be forced to end either five minutes after the End Game Collapse has been triggered or after one hour of play, whichever comes first. Characters who ranked up to level 50 and were prestige rank 0, 1, or 2 will receive two additional prestige levels as a catch-up. The Archives also got a layout improvement and a change to the way challenges are handled between matches. Players may now select two Archive Challenges at the same time: one for Killer, one for Survivor, or two universal challenges. This was done as a way to avoid heading back into the Archives to reactivate challenges after switching roles.

Furthermore, the Update made one notable change to the Dead by Daylight Survivors' toolkit, in the form of the Flashlight. As of 6.3.0, the Flashlight's click speed has been slowed down and the associated sound effect was adjusted accordingly. As a result, using Flashlights will now have a slight delay to reduce strobe effects. This change is part of an effort to reduce the risk of inducing flashing-light seizures. A note from the official forums said that issues concerning flashlight aiming angles are still being investigated. The patch also includes bug fixes for gameplay issues, specific issues with the Xbox One and Steam versions, and some fixes for outstanding issues that impacted The Mastermind.

Dead by Daylight is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
