As of this writing and much to fans' delight, Dead By Daylight celebrated its fourth anniversary, just briefly after the beginning of the Silent Hill Chapter DLC, which included a new killer, survivor and map based on the classic survival-horror game. With so many added features over the past four years, Behaviour Interactive has made it clear that they are listening to fans and continuing to update the game based on the feedback that they receive.

While Dead By Daylight is undoubtedly one of the best and well-known online multiplayer games available currently, there are certain features that could help buffer out gameplay for players that enjoy playing as both survivors and killers. Here are ten features fans hope to see in Dead By Daylight in the near future.

10 Environmental Hazards

In more recent updates, it appears as though the developers are experimenting with ways in which survivors and killers can interact with certain areas in maps. For example, there are now breakable walls featured in multiple maps that provide an added layer of strategy for killers--do they risk breaking through a wall to ambush a survivor even though it may give survivors a new route to take?

An interesting element to be added may be environmental hazards. These hazards could do things like slow down survivors (i.e. running through the swamp in The Backwater Swamp realm) or possibly put survivors in the injured state (i.e. falling through a hole at a great height). To even the odds, these hazards could apply to killers as well to an extent.

9 Map Voting System

While there are offerings that both survivors and killers can use each map to tip the scale of which map is selected each match, without offerings, the map selection is completely arbitrary.

As Dead By Daylight continues to update and add more maps, there is now over 30 different possible of maps. An interesting feature may be to allow both the survivors and killer to vote on possible maps, or even realms, before each match in the event that no players use map-based offerings.

8 New Items

As players know, Dead By Daylight has five main item groups: flashlights, med-kits, toolboxes, keys and maps. Every now and then during a special event, special items become available as well, such as the firecrackers. A new added item may be successful in changing the dynamic of the game.

For example, Adam Francis' perk, Diversion, allows players to throw a pebble that causes a noise notification that distracts the killer. Perhaps a new item to be added could be some type of diversion item, such as a slingshot, with the same effect as the Diversion perk.

7 New Hiding Spots

The sole official hiding spot in Dead By Daylight has always been the trademark red lockers. The lockers are useful for players who try to take the stealth route during matches; additionally, cabinets are now vital for certain perks to be used, such as Nancy Wheeler's Inner Strength perk.

Although players have found more unofficial hiding spots in the nooks and crannies of maps, the game may do well to spice up the hiding spots, instead of over-loading every map with dozens of lockers.

6 Unique Survivor Stats & Abilities

DBD

Each killer in Dead By Daylight has exclusive weapons and abilities, such as The Wraith's invisibility or The Hag's ability to teleport. While each survivor has perks that initially unique to themselves, they can eventually be taught to other survivors or even purchased from The Shrine Of Secrets.

While the game is very balanced by not giving each survivor specific stats, giving the survivors special perks or abilities that are always active may make players more selective of who they choose to play as based on their playing style. This could be more major, such as a fifth perk that is locked in to each survivor, or something more subtle, such as a slight speed or stealth boost based on the survivor.

5 Different Skill Checks

Skill checks present themselves in many facets of each match. While the skill checks difficulty can vary slightly depending on the situation, they always fall under the same system of a circular gauge with a tick that needs to be pressed within a certain window.

An effective way of providing more nuance to each match may be to add different variations to skill checks. For example, while repairing generators, a different skill check could be to input certain buttons within a set time limit. This could be a simple way of breaking the monotony of the same skill-check over and over.

4 More Emotes & Ways Of Communicating

Currently, there are only two emotes that survivors can use in-game. These emotes are to point forward, or to wave back towards oneself. While actually using emotes in-match is a bit difficult given the chaotic nature of matches, having more abilities to communicate with fellow survivors could be a great way to help survivors work together.

This way, survivors could indicate to one another for things such as whether a killer is camping, or whether a generator is nearby.

3 Practice & Single Player Mode

Dead By Daylight Darkness Among Us

Custom matches allow players to assume the role of both survivors and killers, and play private matches with other people. While this can be used as a method to practice or explore maps, it could be more effective to have a specific mode designated for practice--this could be accomplished with a single-player mode.

This is a feature that appears in another popular asymmetric survival-horror game: Friday The 13th. Having a practice mode with the ability to pick certain maps could be a great way of exploring gameplay mechanics, and even easter eggs that exist in matches.

While Dead By Daylight does allow players to learn more about survivors and killers via looking at their stats in the character selection screen, there is currently no official gallery in the game.

A gallery would be a great way to learn more about the lore and characters of Dead By Daylight, and maybe even check out cool behind-the-scenes work such as concept art. Players could perhaps use bloodpoints or iridescent shards in order to gain access to these features.

1 Virtual Reality

This idea is much more ambitious, but could be a great way of spicing up gameplay for players that love to assume mainly play killer. As killer gameplay is in first-person perspective, a really interesting feature to potentially be developed could be the use of virtual reality (VR) while playing.

Imagine how cool it would be to jump right into a Dead By Daylight map as your favorite killer - wouldn't that be amazing? Of course it would be!
