Dead by Daylight has disabled the offerings players can use to send themselves to its newest map, The Shattered Square, while also drastically reducing the chances of it appearing in the game's map rotation. This follows a very prevalent issue giving survivors a massive, unintended advantage on the Dead by Daylight map.

Each Dead by Daylight map is made with the balance of the game in mind, attempting to give both the survivors and the killer an even chance of winning. Though some Dead by Daylight maps have always favored survivors, with pre-work Haddonfield and modern The Game perhaps being the two most notable, an unintended bug is resulting in The Shattered Square, the game's newest map, also being massively survivor-sided.

Released on November 22, 2022, as part of the Dead by Daylight Forged in Fog chapter, The Shattered Square currently has an issue in tile generation, causing it to spawn far too many pallets. Within Dead by Daylight, maps are randomly generated each round, with each map being split into a certain number of what players refer to as tiles. While some tiles can never have a pallet, and some tiles will always have a pallet, the majority of tiles fall somewhere in between, having the potential to spawn a pallet.

With there being guaranteed pallet spawns and guaranteed areas with no pallets for survivors to pull down and block the killer's path, most maps remain decently balanced despite the element of randomness induced by the majority of tiles being able to either spawn or not spawn a pallet. However, an unknown bug affecting the new map, The Shattered Square, has led to it generating pallets in not just every tile that necessitates a pallet spawn, but also every tile that can have a pallet spawn. This results in the entire map being filled with pallets, leading to killer players having a miserable experience, even if they're playing some of the strongest Dead by Daylight killers.

The new map has essentially been disabled for the time being as the team behind Dead by Daylight attempt to resolve the issue, with offerings players typically use to send themselves to The Shattered Square being unusable and the map's chances of appearing in the game's rotation having been drastically reduced. While some Dead by Daylight players do not like the Knight, many enjoyed the medieval-themed map that came with the Forged in Fog chapter, though others complained that scratch marks were too difficult to see against the red hues of The Shattered Square.

Dead by Daylight is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
