Dead by Daylight's sixth anniversary broadcast aired recently and announced a ton of new content and updates for excited players to look forward to. Many of these updates may not arrive until fall or even winter of next year, but there is a lot to be excited about for Dead by Daylight's future.

The most recent update fans can expect is the new Chapter DLC that launches on June 7 and is titled Roots of Dread. This 24th Chapter introduces a new original killer, the Dredge, and a new Survivor, Haddie Kaur, which confirms the Dead by Daylight leak was accurate. However, one of the biggest surprises of the broadcast is a bizarre, unexpected spin-off that may interest fans of a niche genre that draws on Dead by Daylight for its inspired killer characters.

Dead by Daylight has announced it is making a spin-off shift from horror to romance with Hooked on You, a dating simulator. Hooked on You's art style and overall atmosphere seems to match that of Boyfriend Dungeon, and extracts four killer characters from the Entity's Realms to plop them down on a sunny beach where they will act as the player's companions, with whom the player can then "find true love" or "forge friendships" as they flirt and converse with them. There is also apparently a possibility that the player could be "hacked to death" by their respective companions.

Only four of Dead by Daylight's killer characters feature in Hooked on You. In the announcement teaser, they are shown in beach attire for their vacation on Murderer's Island: the Trapper is depicted as a muscular hunk in a striped swimwear bodysuit; the Huntress is also depicted as a muscular specimen, wearing a summery, flowy dress; the Wraith wears matching floral trunks and a short-sleeved button-down, depicted as the "nerd" of the companions; and the Spirit wears a summer kimono that falls off the shoulder with a black bikini underneath and a black sunhat.

It is unclear whether Dead by Daylight's extensive Archive lore for each character will become a part of conversation topics between the player and their murderous companions. It is also bizarre to see these characters outside their ordinary interpretations, but it is a refreshing iteration nonetheless that fans of both genres will likely appreciate.

Hooked on You does not have a scheduled release date, but is slated for sometime this summer, when players will be able to experience respite and potentially love with some of their favorite Dead by Daylight characters in an entirely separate atmosphere.

Hooked on You: A Dead by Daylight Dating Sim is currently scheduled to release this summer on Steam for PC.
