Dead by Daylight's one of gaming's most surprising success stories of the past several years. The asymmetric multiplayer horror game continues to receive routine updates adding new Killers and Survivors to play as, plus more. Behaviour Interactive continues to show that Dead by Daylight has no intention of slowing, either. On Friday, Behavior dropped an announcement regarding Dead by Daylight's upcoming Chapter 16 DLC. Chapter 16 is especially notable because it will feature yet another iconic horror franchise.

Behaviour Interactive will be celebrating Dead by Daylight's fourth anniversary soon. The studio announced that fans of Dead by Daylight can join in on the celebrations and watch "a very special stream and a jaw-dropping reveal" on May 26 at 11:00 am PT. The broadcast features a "panel-based review" of Dead by Daylight's last year, as well as the year coming up. The broadcast will end with the reveal of Chapter 16.

Chapter 16 is going to feature a "classic license," a franchise that "has marked the world of horror since its inception." What this horror partnership might be is anyone's guess, as Behaviour isn't dropping any hints, but it's notable that movies weren't mentioned at all in the tease. Perhaps Dead by Daylight might be getting a popular book or video game horror character.

As per usual, the new chapter will include a brand new map, a new Survivor, and a new Killer all in one bundle. While Behaviour doesn't say so, it's expected that all of it will be related to the new horror license that Dead by Daylight has picked up.

To reiterate the importance of Chapter 16 and Dead by Daylight's anniversary, game director Mathieu Cote offered a statement. Speaking about Chapter 16, Cote says that it's an "emotional milestone" for him and the development team. "We've brought you a lot of really cool stuff this year and next year will be even more intense."

Chapter 16 may still be a ways away from being released for Dead by Daylight. Again, the broadcast where Chapter 16 will debut will air on March 26, which is still several weeks away. Behaviour clearly believes that this one is worth looking forward to, for Dead by Daylight fans, and is making sure to announce it early. Now fans can spend the time between now and then wondering just what great horror franchise will be joining the Dead by Daylight universe next.

Dead by Daylight is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
