Dead by Daylight has been one of the biggest surprise successes of the past five years. The multiplayer horror game, originally released in 2016, won out among a wave of asymmetric horror titles and in the process secured licensed partnerships with franchises including Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Saw, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Hellraiser. Five years later, fans are wondering what Behaviour Interactive's next big post-Dead by Daylight project could be. The answer, it seems, is possibly an Xbox console exclusive.

Watchful Dead by Daylight fans appear to have combed Behaviour Interactive's employee listings on LinkedIn for clues about what the studio could be working on next. In their search, they discovered a listing for level designer Jérôme Cyr, who has worked for Behaviour for five years now, but never on Dead by Daylight. Cyr's most recent addition to his experience at Behaviour is his work on an "Unannounced AAA Project," in which he worked on level layout and combat encounters. What's particularly interesting about this project are the platforms it's listed for.

The unannounced AAA project from Cyr's experience is apparently being made for both PC and Xbox One. Unlike another of Cyr's listed projects, there's no mention of working on other platforms whether they be Nintendo, PlayStation, or mobile. In other words, the listing implies that one of Behaviour's upcoming projects could be made in partnership with Xbox. There's been no official announcement to that effect, of course, so any potential Xbox-exclusive Behaviour project would be considered a complete rumor at this point.

The idea of an Xbox-exclusive game from Behaviour Interactive isn't outrageous. The success of Dead by Daylight can't be denied, and with it Behaviour's ability to deliver a live service multiplayer game. As Dead by Daylight begins to age and Behaviour looks toward what's next, a publisher like Xbox wanting to secure their next project as an exclusive seems in line with the platform's goals.

With that said, it bears repeating that Cyr is not listed as having any experience on the Dead by Daylight team. This new project, whether it's an Xbox exclusive or not, appears to be handled by a separate team at Behaviour entirely. Dead by Daylight's development is still continuing, after all.

The future of Behaviour Interactive remains entirely mysterious. If there's truly an Xbox exclusive game in development, the form it takes is entirely unclear. Perhaps Behaviour would shift its focus away from Dead by Daylight to support this new game, perhaps it'd try to support both games' ongoing development, or perhaps there's more to the project than meets the eye. Regardless, fans of Dead by Daylight will have to wait for a future announcement to find out more.

Dead by Daylight is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
