DC Comics has announced yet another Batman film coming to their exciting ever-growing list of films that will be releasing within the upcoming year and into 2022. Merry Little Batman will be set in the Batman universe and will be following Damien Wayne instead of the titular caped crusader.

This will be an animated movie rather than a live-action film. As fans know, DC’s animated films have always been good at adapting the story of the comics into a different format as well as excelling at telling their own unique stories. DC has recently been diverting to their own route of the comic book superhero movie formula by not having a central/cohesive vision for all of their films like Marvel does.

This film, as the title alludes, will tell the story of a six-year-old Damian Wayne who finds himself alone in Wayne Manor where he must transform into “Little Batman” so he can defend his home as well as Gotham City from those wishing to do harm. The film will be xecutive produced and directed by Mike Roth (Regular Show) and written by Morgan Evans (Earth to Ned).

Merry Little Batman

Damian Wayne for those that don’t know is the son of Bruce Wayne who adopts the mantle of Robin (following Jason Todd, Dick Grayson, and Tim Drake). Unlike his father, Damien has no problem taking a life and is often seen as the dark knight’s darker half. Despite being a child, Damien is a very exceptional fighter as he was trained by the league of assassins.

This film will hopefully be a fun movie for fans both old and new. The idea of a “little Batman” sounds more cartoonish than the gritty dark action many are used to from the DC comics stories, so this can potentially be a story for children in addition to the adult fan base. With it having a Christmas theme, this may be a very good and quick holiday watch with the family or loved ones.

DC has been doing a good job at keeping the content coming with their consistent announcements of series, animated movies, live-action films, and video games so this looks to be a nice addition to their ever-growing list.

Merry Little Batman will get an official release date later this year
