Between the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC's own film projects, superheroes are saturating pop culture more than ever before. Not only are costumed crimefighters dominating the silver screen, they also have starring roles in TV shows, books, cartoons, and even advertisements around the world. Pretty soon DC's lineup of classic superheroes will have one more heroic duty on top of everything else: teaching schoolkids.

DC has a wide range of comics and stories that they publish, but one of the more unique ones on the horizon is Flash Facts: Ten Terrific Tales about Science and Technology. The anthology of tales will be targeted at a middle school audience, and will see DC heroes exploring the connection between the things readers learn in school and the world around them.

The book will be curated and edited by actress Mayim Bialik, a neuroscientist perhaps better known as Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory. Bialik also contributes the foreword and afterword for the book, as well as narrating the first look trailer for the project, which was revealed via The Hollywood Reporter in an exclusive story.

In the trailer Bialik explains that the book will cover various Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics topics through the perspective of various DC heroes. Some of the examples given are a scene where the Flash explains forensic science, Supergirl taking the reader to space to see how the planets line up, and Cyborg explaining how virtual reality works.

It seems that the book will cover a nice range of topics that would be relevant to middle schoolers, and hopefully the inclusion of popular characters will encourage them to engage with the material. Though the book may not appeal to older comic readers, it's nice to see the pop-culture appeal of DC's heroes being leveraged for a project that will help kids learn.

The Flash Facts anthology is scheduled for a Feb. 2 release date, both in print and digitally, meaning that it should be widely available to anyone who wants to pick up a copy. No doubt there will be many kids interested in learning a thing or two from their favorite heroes.

Flash Facts: Ten Terrific Tales about Science and Technology is out on February 2nd.
