DC Comics has a long roster of heroes that rivals Marvel’s list. Heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, and The Flash are prime examples of what heroism looks like. For other DC characters, their paths are a bit dark at the beginning.

Some might be misguided while others still love causing chaos, but all of them will fight to protect the innocent and the ones they love. They may not act or do things the traditional hero way, but they’re forging their own paths and doing what’s morally right.

10 Lobo

He’s not exactly a hero but he’s also not a villain. Lobo is a bounty hunter that first appeared as a villain. He’s very arrogant and loves nothing more than senseless violence. Not exactly a heroic man, but his word is his bond. If he agrees to something, he has a strict code of honor that he will always honor the agreement no matter what.

Despite this, Lobo has teamed up with Superman and Guy Gardner. He fought against Aquaman but stopped when he realized the hero was raised by dolphins (a creature Lobo loves). He's very powerful, able to go head-to-head with the most powerful heroes and villains.

9 Harley Quinn

Harley seems more like a hero now, but she’s still walking the fine line between heroism and villainy. Many of her crimes with the Joker are unforgivable and she’s not afraid to kill or fight dirty. She had an unhealthy dependence on the Joker and did anything to make him happy with her.

Since she’s separated from the Joker, Harley has become more of an anti-hero. She’s worked alongside other anti-heroes like Poison Ivy and Catwoman plus the Suicide Squad.

8 Rose Wilson, AKA Ravager

The daughter of notorious villain Deathstroke, Rose started off as a hero, helping the Teen Titans. Then she turned into a villain when she left and became her father’s apprentice. This wouldn’t last long though. After training under Nightwing and learning that her father put her in danger, Rose cuts off all ties with him and rejoins the Titans.

Since then, Rose has stayed on the side of good even after her allies question her loyalties. She has mended things with her father, but their relationship isn’t the best.

7 Carol Ferris, AKA Star Sapphire

Carol Ferris was chosen by Zamorans to be the new Star Sapphire. As Star Sapphire, Carol fought against Green Lantern/Hal Jordan numerous times. She murdered Katma Tui, the wife of another Green Lantern John Stewart. It was revealed that a parasitic creature corrupted her, but she opted to stay away from Hal after being saved.

Carol has rebuilt her life and defeated the persona that would take whenever she would use the Star Sapphire gem. Since then, she helps the Green Lantern Corps regularly and has become a pretty strong warrior.

6 Killer Frost

A name shared by three women. The first incarnation was Crystal Frost, a college student that was studying to be a scientist. After being rejected by her professor, Crystal accidentally locked herself in a thermafrost chamber and survived, receiving powers from this. She began a crusade against all men and fought against Firestorm many times before he killed her. The second incarnation was Dr. Louise Lincoln, a colleague of Crystal. She wanted revenge against Firestorm for killing her friend, but failed numerous times to kill him and has fought other heroes.

The third incarnation is Caitlin Snow. She accidentally received her powers after H.I.V.E agents tried to kill her. Caitlin isn’t like the other two and has teamed up with other heroes and the Suicide Squad.

5 Huntress

Like Killer Frost, the Huntress has been given to three separate ladies in DC. The first version of Huntress belonged to Paula Brooks, who would later be renamed Tigress. She joined the Injustice Society of America and married Sportsmaster, a supervillain. After her name was changed to Tigress, Helena Wayne was given the name. She is the daughter of Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle from Earth-2.

Then there’s Helena Bertinelli, a daughter of a mafia boss who is seeking revenge for her parents’ death. She is more violent than Helena Wayne and butted heads with other heroes, mostly Batman. However, she’s proven that she channels her rage and anger against villains and works well with most heroes.

4 Pied Piper

The Pied Piper doesn’t look intimidating at first glance, but he was part of the Rogues, a villain group that fought against The Flash/Barry Allen. After Barry’s death, Piper decided to change his ways and became a champion for the poor people.

Piper befriended Wally West, the new Flash, and helped him a few times. This friendship would lead Piper to become a vital member of The Flash family.

3 Bombshell

Bombshell has quite a complicated history when it comes to being a hero. She was part of the Teen Titans for a short bit but was later revealed to be a traitor. Bombshell wanted to get the essence of Jericho but was stopped by Rose Wilson. After she refused to answer any questions, Miss Martian was able to see that she was part of Titans East, a group of supervillains led by Deathstroke.

Bombshell slowly began to return to the Titans’ good graces, but it was a rough road. Bombshell is now a hero who has earned their trust and uses her powers for good.

2 Plastic Man

He’s a humorous hero now, but Plastic Man started off as a villain in DC. Orphaned at ten years old and living on the streets, Patrick O'Brian ended up falling into a life of crime to survive. As he grew into adulthood, he was part of a burglary ring and worked as a safecracker. After a heist gone wrong, Patrick was shot and doused in a mystery chemical. His group left him for dead, but luckily he was found by a monk who lived in a nearby monastery.

With this monk’s help and realizing his gang left him, Plastic Man was born. He has used his powers for good ever since and hasn’t looked back.

1 Catwoman, AKA Selina Kyle

Catwoman started off as a typical run-of-the-mill burglar with a seductive appeal, but she’s come a long way. She’s become one of the most iconic villains and anti-heroines of DC. Her relationship with Batman has always been complex because even he knew that she wasn’t inherently evil. She has helped Batman and the Bat-family numerous times.

Selina might be a thief, but she protects and helps those that she cares about. Her relationship with Bruce has made her want to change for the better. Bruce Wayne, a man known to keep even those closest to him at arm's length, proposed to Selina, showing he truly loves her even with her villainous past and that she’s a good person deep down.
