There are a few characters in DC that choose to use the legal system to make sure criminals get what's coming to them. Lawyers aren't always the most honorable or respected individuals but when they do their job right, it can lead to a safer world for all. Here's a look at some of the most memorable characters in DC Comics with a law degree.

5 Richard Grayson/Robin (Earth 2)

Robin in the DC comics

Richard Grayson, more commonly known as Batman's sidekick Robin, is one of the most iconic characters in all of DC Comics. As a young boy, he was a part of the Flying Graysons circus act with his family. After a horrible tragedy left both of his parents dead during one of their shows, Richard became an orphan. Fortunately, Bruce Wayne happened to be in the audience at the time and saw similarities between Richard's horrific loss with the loss of his own parents.

Bruce decided to adopt Richard and train him to become a fighter like him. While becoming the crimefighting sidekick we all know and love, Richard also learned the ways of law and criminology. One of the major things that separate the Earth 2 version of Robin from all his others is that this variant chose to become a lawyer later in life. After a long career of heroism, this Earth 2 Robin went on to become part of the Cranston and Grayson law firm.

2 Augustus Freeman/Icon

Icon Dc Comics

Augustus Freeman is an alien who crash-landed on Earth as a baby much like Superman. However, he happened to land in the American South in 1839 and took on the appearance of the first being he saw, a human slave named Miriam. Augustus was forced into a life of slavery and experienced the hardships it entailed. He worked his way up to becoming a Union soldier and then eventually a lawyer.

Since he doesn't age as normal humans do, Augustus continues to pose as the offspring of his original secret identity. In modern times he's known as Augustus Freeman IV and is one of the most successful lawyers in America. He hid his alien powers for years until a girl named Raquel caught him using them in an act of desperation. Raquel convinced him to become the superhero known as Icon with her as his sidekick. They went on to stop evil together as heroes while Augustus waits for Earth to catch up in technology enough for him to repair the spacecraft he landed in many years earlier.

1 Harvey Dent/Two-Face

Two-Face Batman DC villain Harvey Dent

It's no surprise that Harvey Dent is the most iconic lawyer in the DC Universe. Harvey was an inspiring district attorney in Gotham, dedicated to bringing justice to all the lowlifes and criminals that reside in his city. He even became a personal ally of Batman and the two worked together frequently. Harvey Dent's downfall began when the notorious crime lord Sal Maroni threw acid in his face in the courtroom.

The acid left Harvey permanently disfigured on exactly one-half of his face. This tragedy caused Harvey to lose his mind and embrace a whole new personality. Now known as Two-Face, he lived his life by the belief that a 50/50 chance should decide everything. His morals became twisted in that he now would commit evil acts as long as his lucky coin told him to. Two-Face has had a long history as one of Batman's most infamous foes and won't be forgotten anytime soon.
